You know what Rex? You and your generation like to call my generation worthless, lazy, arrogant, and cowardly. That may be true for some in my generation. But your generation is without a doubt the most embarrassing generation in American history. Y'all are the most unpatriotic, lazy, entitled, pussy generation we've ever seen. And you yourself are a prime example of that.
You didn't almost serve. You didn't fricking serve. There is no almost serving. You either did or didn't and for you to try and wear that like a badge of honor is a disgrace to all those men who did serve and ESPECIALLY to all those 58,307 who died while fighting.
And to think most of your dads served in some capacity in WWII or Korea. Y'all should've been grateful that there were men before y'all who actually were patriotic and would serve this country. But instead y'all were so motherfricking arrogant and entitled that y'all pretty much said "frick you America" and turned your backs on her.
frick you. And frick your generation. I can't wait till y'all die off.

That may or may not be true, but it's not our place to deprive other people of their own choices.
my dad chooses to call Jane Fonda a pinko commie bitch for her comments about the soldiers that didn't really have a choice but to fight.
why do you get to make choices for people yet bitch at those you perceive to make choices for people that are contrary to your misguided beliefs?

The Vietnamese War was not the same as WWII nor Korea. It was a civil war in which we didn't belong.

Homerun post.
Check that, grand slam.

if you were an E-3 infantryman, they were exactly the same thing.

In her broadcasts she specifically tells American soldiers and pilots it's not their fault.

What choices have I made for people?

You're right, I wasn't there. But I am serving now and I am allowed to say that there is no "almost" when it comes to serving.
Also, the South Vietnamese pleaded with us to go there and help. Which we did because they were our allies. We didn't have to go to Korea. But the South Koreans are our allies and we have to help our allies.
You see, that's what you do when someone is your ally. You help them when they're in need.

Well, it wasn't exactly, precisely, only a Civil War, now was it? LBJ's crackpot domino theory notwithstanding, the North WAS being propped up by the Soviets, including air defense, logistical support, interceptor aircraft (almost certainly including Russian pilots), training, ammo, weapons, intelligence, naval support, etc.
SO, there's that. Now, do I think we should have gotten involved? Probably not. Once the decision was made, in a republic, I would have been compelled to serve.
I've served in peacetime and war, on a volunteer basis. It has been an honor to serve my country under such difficult circumstances over the past 28 years. G-d knows, somebody had to do it.

The war in Vietnam began before there was any "South Vietnam". We joined a war in progress.

Apparently logic and the dictionary displease you. There was a military draft before your time.

Something over there has you scared
A more likely scenario is that everyone on the Poli Board is wise to Rex's antics and are not giving him the attention he wants anymore. So he has decided to find a new set of posters to irritate.

I admit to starting threads others here are too reluctant or too ignorant to start. I don't post for applause... don't need it in my life. I don't post for attention... I get plenty of that in real life. I post for controversy because debate and truth are important.

the same thing the Viet Cong propagandists told the American soldiers
since it is apparently not obvious to some: 2 + 2 = 4

Rex, you've made your point, and I agree that lies were told about Jane Fonda's actions during the Vietnam War. I believe that her words and actions that are not in dispute were still abominable. I agree that she has the right via the first amendment to free speech, but to your point that I've quoted above, you can't deprive people of hating or despising her for what she said and did. Again, I'm speaking of the words and actions that indeed she has taken account for.
