Vehicle Theft is Too Easy

So my truck was stolen this weekend in Houston. Such a shame as I was taking my son and daughter to their first MLB game. After the game, came back to the lot where I parked and truck was gone.
Anyways, after some research it seems like vehicle theft is all too easy now days. They can copy your key fob basically from an iPhone. I don’t think I’ve seen a new vehicle in the past 5 or so years that doesn’t come with a key fob and push button start. It’s a well known subject if you search the internet, so why haven’t vehicle manufacturers tried to do anything to stop it? FWIW, they were able to disable OnStar as well so it couldn’t be tracked.
Does anyone have any tips they’ve taken into account to at least slow a thief down? I’ve seen the rfid blocking bags, but that sure seems like a pain.

No new car is safe these days. It’s better to have an old fashioned key

Baw, drive a 7 yr old F150. They are basically unstealable.

Sorry to hear that. I hope they can find your vehicle and the people that did it. This was from Toronto on how easy it was to steal a Lexus

Get a vehicle with a standard transmission. You can leave the keys in it and they probably still couldn’t steal it.

Car manufacturers will probably start charging more for a standard key

This isn't true. I had an 05 Silverado that was a very popular target. All they have to do is jam a screwdriver in the ignition and they can ride right off. The doors are also easy to break into.

First thing I did with both of our new cars was install a hidden kill switch myself.
One is under the trunk lid and the other is behind the back seat.

A physical key and a standard transmission solves all.

Thumb tacks on your driver seat or let the air out of your tires when you park

One of my most downvoted non-troll thread was asking if anyone stored their keys in a rf/faraday bag.
That was a few years ago when the key fob theft was just taking off.

Just drive older white trash cars. No one will take them

This. The best anti-theft device known to man is the third pedal.
They don’t teach driving a manual in the hood.

How do you copy a fob with a iPhone? Lost spare set.
