A week ago this was a little spot. Now after all the rain it is flaking off like crazy.

Is there anything I can do besides take it to a paint shop and have them do the entire back hatch?

Was it ever repainted before? Sometimes the insurance company will warranty work from a previous repair.

And year, repaint the hatch is probably the only solution.

I would sell it though, the rest is likely to strart if it was all painted at the same time

And that’s what happens when you don’t wax/seal your paint. Congratulations on being lazy!

Sorry, but the answer truly is no. Once it starts going like that there is no stopping it.

The guy who used to cut my butler's grass had that problem once.

The only solution is to paint the entire vehicle with truck bed texture paint. It’s the redneck equivalent of Donald Trump coating his toilet with gold.

Sweet alumni frame. Can't see what school, but you're making them look bad.

It’s an 04 and in great shape besides this. I’m not ready to just mail it in on the cosmetics just because it’s old. I’m going to be driving it until the wheels fall off.

It being a Chevrolet, that probably won't be long.

Besides that, the rear liftgate will eventually all peel/seperate from the basecoat (paint). Only thing to do is sand off the remaining clearcoat, spray a coat of paint, and clearcoat it again.

$300-$500 depending on the shop.
