Unless there is another meaning, missed opportunity in the background having the mechanized infantry model sitting on the NATO symbol for leg infantry.

OK, I notice some of the airplanes are privileged enough to occupy the air and not a space on the shelf. How do you determine the honored ones?
As usual great work.

Not a common aircraft in any discussion or pics of WWII, but when it and the Devastator torpedo bomber debuted in 1936 and 1937, they were state of the art. Just four years later - really 2 years - , completely obsolete.

Beautiful work as always.

That’s actually a little wooden Alabama state flag my son made for me in 9th grade shop class.

This use to be my son’s room. When he was little we built many models together. Those we hung from the ceiling in his room. When he grew up and moved out, I moved my model room in here and left those where they’d been since he was little.

It really is amazing how fast the technology was advancing then. Imagine the Navy today getting a new attack aircraft and like 5 years later it was already obsolete. That’s crazy.

Tons of canopy to mask - well done.

Eduard mask kit?

Weathering holds up but the insignia decals pop out too much for reality.

Rivets show through the decal so major kudos to red MicroSol.

New decal, old plane, type of thing that stands out.

There’s a clear film over the top of the decals. they can be removed. It will accept all that weathering much better.

YouTube has videos on how to remove that clear film. The film makes the decal ‘pop’ too much, it’s too bright for all the weathering.

Cheers.

Thanks. It’s not a Eduard mask. The mask kit was included in the kit, which proved very helpful and saved a ton of time.

The method I use is airbrush a gloss clear coat where the decal is to go. I use Tamiya Mark Fit to help the decal sit properly. Then after applying the decal I go over everything with a flat clear coat. I then weather it using Tamiya Black panel accent as a wash. When it dries I remove the excess wash using Enamel Thinner. Since I paint with acrylics, the enamel thinner doesn’t affect the overall paint job. And since I go over the model with a flat clear coat, that protects the decals during the wash application and removal.

I like the thin washes that you applied on your model.

Thanks. It’s actually quite simple and easy to do. I wish I could take credit for coming up with it, but I saw a guy on my X feed do it and learned from him.

no worries. I just made the assumption because of the general military context.

Totally understandable. I’ve never thought about it before, but I can see how it looks like the map symbol for leg infantry.
