Both a blessing and a curse for the Germans. It meant most of their weapons systems were the best in the world. But it also meant they could never make enough of them.

—the other curse was, they couldn’t maintain what they built

Why did you do the G?

Which version had the nose cannon for tanks?

Russians had the best tanks in cost vs ability to kill German armor.

Part of the problem was quality vs cost and QUANTITY

Part of the problem is Hitler was an idiot on military matters. They had a jet at the start of t5he war and Hitler chose to make it a tactical bomber like the Stuka instead of an interceptor like the F - 16 (which is still in use today)

That’s awesome. Where do you store/display these when finished?

Very nice!

I've always found confusing the variety squadron insignia on their aircraft. Interesting, but confusing

I have some others in my stash, I know I have at least one E and I believe two Ks. Just chose the G on a whim.

The E2 was the first to have the nose cannon. Not sure they ever used them on ground targets though.

Yeah I always was privy to the North African campaign plain desert camo.

My balsa wood and paper skin BF109 (60+ hours build), presented below:

Radio wires are just plastic, melted and stretched.

I tirrned my son’s bedroom into my model room. That’s where I build and display them. I’ve already laid out the next one. I’ll start it Sunday after church.

Great job as always.

For everyone else that showed their models, kudos and nice job also.

Hans-Joachim Marseille actually preferred the F version of the BF109 and the G model got him killed if I remember correctly.

What type of tracks does that have?

It has individual track shoes. If you look close to the far right side of the picture, that’s the package of track shoes. I looked at the instructions for a moment and it appears that instead of being cemented together they snap end to end to make the tracks.

According to this site, they used licensed replica Messerschmitt Bf109-G's, called Hispano Aviación HA-1112's, in Dunkirk.

Internet Movie Plane Database (Dunkirk)

A pretty wikipedia. pick of one of them.

Under the pic is this caption:

quote:

A Hispano Aviación HA-1112 (c/n 156 C.4K-87 (D-FMBB), "FM+BB"), a license-built Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2. Rebuilt by the EADS/Messerschmitt Foundation, Germany with a Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine as a G-6. The paint scheme is missing the Swastika, due to current German laws.

ETA: Your model is beautiful! A work of art.
