My pawpaw flew the hump. LSU through and through. He also trained as a fighter pilot and ended up flying the hump. Another one who didn’t say too many words, just went about his business and ran the missions.

Interesting factoid: it was used by the USAF up until 2012.

That’s the Argonia, flown by Col Charles Young, CO of the 439th Troop Carrier Group, which included the 94th TC Squadron. My dad was co-pilot of C-47 42-100640 Jersey Bounce of the 94th TCS, flying as #23 behind Col Young on the night of D-Day in Normandy. They dropped their stick of 101st Airborne on target at DZ C, near Hiesville / Ste Mere Eglise. There is a replica of this airplane in the museum in StME. If I could figure out how to post photos I’d show the model I built of my dad’s plane in 1:48.
