Yes. They come completely unpainted. One of the main reasons I build so many Wehrmacht vehicles is because there is almost no limit to the varieties of camouflage patterns to choose from. I enjoy doing different camo patterns.

Where do you buy most of your models?

Most come from my local hobby shop. I say local, it’s about an hour from here in Hoover. It’s a place called The Model Box. I’ll also order some from Amazon. Also, usually once a year we take a trip to Memphis to this gargantuan model shop called Midsouth Hobby. Last time I went there I walked out with seven kits for just under $300. Also, whenever I travel for business or whatever, one of the first things I do is a Google search for local hobby shops.

Everyone needs something, some sort of way to unplug, unwind, and relax.

It Jair takes time, practice, patience, and attention to detail. You can start off with some easier kits and work your way up from there. There’s a ton of instructional videos on YouTube to get you going. I don’t know what sort of models you’d be into. If it’s cars, I can’t help you. I think I’ve only built two in my life and those were by request of friends & family. But if you want to start with aircraft, this is a perfect first one to start with…

Or if you prefer armor…

Both should be available on Amazon.

Painting is the most tricky part. I recommend using acrylics. The key is to thin the paint and apply thin, even layers. I brush paint in this manner. It will take some time and experimenting. But you can get it.

One main thing I always tell new model builders is to build for yourself. Don’t compare your work to others, especially if they’ve been building models for decades.

I went into some detail on my weathering technique earlier. I think it’s on page two. But no, I do not use hairspray.

Great set of builds! That’s a solid accomplishment. What’s on tap for 2023?

Well, first up is to finish the Dragon 1/35 scale Sd.Kfz 251 Ausf. C that’s on my desk right now. After that, I’ll pick the next build from my stash.

I’m thinking I may do a P-51D with Invasion Stripes next. I’ll have to find some aftermarket decals though because the only P-51D in my stash has markings for CBI theater instead of Europe.
