Is it possible to bust a scammer? I know you can report them to the FTC - but in terms of tracing a fake Facebook profile to an actual person, or their cash app tag, is this possible? My cousin booked a Destin vacation with a “realtor” she met through a vacation property group - it was a scam and she was able to cancel the transaction. The same person under a different profile is messaging her again, hoping she’ll make the mistake twice. She is stringing her along to keep the Facebook profile active, but is there any way to actually trace this person?

Get her name..then go to FREC and see if she is licensed...if not, call and report..fairly serious crime in FL.

I know ! I’ve told her how stupid the whole thing was, she’s young and trusting!! But now that she’s being contacted again by the same person - same property, same cash app handle, but different profile name - it would be great to troll this person long enough to get them busted.

Once I tracked the IP address to a town in Nigeria, then researched the area and got the name of a bar/restaurant.
During the back and forth with the scammer, I asked him to meet me at the bar and never heard back.
