I'm not really commenting on the flag as it pertains to the OP. I'm speaking to this notion of destroying and removing all objects the current society deems to be immoral based a contemporary morality standard that no symbol will be able to inevitably pass.

Yeah, I’m pretty amazed that the confederate battle flag wasn’t banned by our military 150+ years ago. Regardless of your feelings around the racial implications or lack thereof, it’s a little odd to me that the United States armed forces would be OK with flying the flag of an uprising against those same armed forces.

As was the American Revolution. The Confederate soldiers were not Nazis. They were fighting for their brothers and neighbors. Almost none of the men fighting owned slaves or mistreated black people.
You can see them however you want to. Confederates were far better people than anyone on the left today
