Sounds like LVP has three weaknesses
1. Not as scratch resistant
2. Louder/ vulnerable to noticing when laid on imperfect surfaces.
3 plastic feeling.
I'd love to go stained concrete but my slab has been trenched and I fear it would look bad if that shows.

Yeah, and they brought in one of those wood floor scraper machines to pull up my old floors and the machine jacked up my baseboards, door casings, and even walls. The machine certainly is more efficient and saves time but frick, the thing did significant damage.

The guys that laid my tile I think did a good job, but I can notice some tiles that sound hallow and it drives me crazy. Also, the porcelain is very cold and I don't like that. Also, don't drop anything on the tile because it will crack. Other than that all good

I know. I even got 4 quotes and this guy was the cheapest. These guys pay so much money for the flooring machines that they have to charge an arm and a leg to make any money I think.

Don't if you don't want hardwood before doing laminate go look at LVT and not at Home Depot etc go to a commercial floor covering vendor. Use a roll on moisture barrier Loba 280. Stay away from laminate

Yeah, I was fricking livid. He fixed the 4 holes in my dry wall and the baseboards but did not fix the door casing. As for the dry wall, I guess he thought he was just going to match the paint color in the 2 rooms and throw some paint on it? Would have looked like shite. I ended up having the whole house painted after the floors so I told him not to paint the dry wall.

We had it in the kitchen. Seemed to wear quicker there. We ended up changing out for tile

It depends on neighborhood and do you plan on selling the property or staying in it long - term.

Sure, it is tounge and groove like laminate. It is a floating floor. It is water resistant, scratch reaistant and stain resistant.
I laid it in our house about 3 months ago and very happy with it. It looks great, easy to clean and so far has stood up very nicely to our 2 dogs and 3 kids.

Dude put tile in the kitchen. You are always one disaster from ruining your floor with laminate. Tile is an awesome surface and can get it to look like anything.
I just wouldn't consider any laminate in bath and kitchen, regardless of how its marketed.

We left some cut pieces of it in a 5 gallon bucket of water for 2 weeks and no damage to the planks.

In my market no one puts tile in kitchens anymore. Everything is open concept these days where the island houses a sink/dishwasher. It's halfway in the living area so if shtf in kitchen, you're probably screwed regardless. Breaking up floors in open concept looks absolutely horrible.
In baths I think tile is still the way to go. That said I would continue running laminate vs wood tile in baths cause then it has potential to look like mismatched floors. Get a simple Gray 12x24 and run it in a brick/hopscotch pattern with a subway on the walls and it will look great, be inexpensive, and not be out of style in 6 months

I've not had success with laminate.
Any bit of water gets to it, it will warp.
I can't imagine it working in a bathroom.
If I could do over, I would do wood like ceramic tile.

You mean when people walk? Tile has an echo factor that real wood doesn't seem to have because it's so hard. Not sure about laminate or LVP.
