Not looking good for the Blues pilot. I'm guessing G-LOC similar to their crash in 2007. Godspeed

Went and saw the Blue Angles practice about a month ago. During their practice they had three planes that had to land because of mechanical difficulties. Apparently they planes they fly are some of the oldest F-18s in the fleet.

Let me start by stating I'm no fan of Obama. Never have been, never will be.

To his credit, he gave a rather mundane speech and kept politics out of it. Also, to his credit he returned the salute and shook the hand of every graduating cadet.

As far as the T Bird crash, I spent 20 years in the Air Force including 14 in the Colorado Springs area (6 at Academy). I've seen the T Birds perform probably close to 50 times. Looks like the crash occurred on final approarch to the COS airport for landing. Initial reports suggest engine failure. Condolences to the Blue Angels on the loss of one of their pilots.

That is because the mission those guys fly is not combat sensitive and therefore lower on the priority list.

Blue Angel crashed less than a mile from me. This morning they flew right over me, literally. Sad to see on the local news. Doesnt look like the pilot made it. Pictures show a huge fire ball from the crash. Prayers for the family and friends.

Blue Angel pilot confirmed dead. This is the first time both demonstration teams have had an airframe loss on the same day.

Eta: I read somewhere recently that the Blue Angels are transitioning to the Rhino- Super Hornet in a few years.

Either that or some of the newer C/D models. Just last year a piece of #5 came off in flight.

This event may cause the quick transition to newer aircraft. I hope.

Viper? What's a viper?

You mean like a Dodge Viper?

Or is that the new name for the F-35?
