My best friend is a State Farm agent for 30 years in Dallas. I'm in Louisiana and have USAA. He's told me either USAA or State Farm for home and auto and Northwestern Mutual for life insurance. You DO get what you pay for! He said Geico and Progressive are disasters for people just because they want lower premiums.

Lol. I was told I would not be allowed in when I went to both navy (for nuke school) and army recruiter in 2000 with my chronic disease diagnosis. I've since had to have multiple surgeries leaving me with no colon and another surgery this Friday. Yea, I'm a pussy
Maybe there's a banking alternative for people with your condition that you did earn...?

Their customer service is, no joke, the best of any large company in any industry that I have ever experienced. They take their customer service very seriously, and it shows.

I've heard of bad and good experiences with them. I got some prices and they couldn't beat state farm

I'm aware, I said as much in my first post.

Not necessarily. I saved by switching to GEICO.
Plus USAA reduced the limit n my credit card back when the economy sucked, around 2008. I didn't use the card much to begin with, but it was a sleazy thing to do arbitrarily, definitely not a customer-friendly gesture.
When I cancelled my card and switched to GEICO, USAA asked me to give them another chance to earn my business. So I said, "Restore the previous limit on my card"--which they wouldn't do.
USAA's claims to be a customer-oriented company are bullshite in my opinion, based on my personal experience.

Your credit must be pretty poor or you have something you're unaware of on your accounts then.

No. My employer switched me from a full-time to part-time employee because the company had lost a lot of business. Apparently USAA discovered this and lowered the limit on my card as a result. All I asked is that they contact me to discuss or at least explain before doing what they did--but this was too much trouble for them to go through.
USAA showed no interest in me at all, aside from taking automatic payments on my car insurance. frick 'em.

Rates are not the best across the board, but no company would or should be. Customer service is great and they give no bullshite when claims are made.

Their rates are generally lower than most but you can find lower. Where they excel is when you actually have to file a claim
ETA: also with USAA they give you a year end dividend if there are less claims than expected for the company

I'm in Tejas and my rates are cheaper for auto but not for home.

That's interesting they found that out, never even assumed they look this closely, or would have the ability to find out?
I opened multiple cards through them though and my limit is always far more than I think a responsible person would need for a card.

40 years service is excellent

Yes USAA is awesome. Enjoy the benefits someone else earned you.

ot always the cheapest, but they are the best when you have to make a claim. Quick, easy and in my experience they don't jack your rates up after.
Have a claim with them now. My son was hit by another. USAA is taking care of the claim and will go after other insurance company later.

USAA is the tits! I use them for Auto, Home, Personal Property, and about to use them as a lender for a boat loan.
Rates have been better on just about everything but the boat loan.
