Pretty similar to what sitting congressman and senators do every day with stocks.

The guy is executive branch. Just no favors on the bottom rung. Really sucks his savings are gone. Now he's gonna go in debt hiring lawyers.

My only issue is that he was displaying early information of one of the greatest covert operations of all time. And it could have gotten a ton of soldiers killed. A good intelligence service could have noticed and would have been on high alert. They show up to the compound and the choppers get rpged or something. I am assuming he did it before hand and not after (but before it was publically known).
Agree - it's good to bet on yourself but if someone had noticed, they might have realized he knew something.

It’s no different than a professional player betting on his team to win the game. Now if he bet against Maduro getting captured that would be different.

Of course it’s different.

Comments are confusing. People who aren't ok with Congress doing it are ok with the soldier doing it.
Maybe, instead of excusing the soldier's behavior, the comments should demand more accountability from Congress.

Kalshi isn’t the stock market tho.
When you decide to wager there it should be implied that someone else may know more than you do.

I am basically ambivalent as to what happens to him later, but he should be separated immediately, period. OpSec is incredibly important.
Maybe not Venezuela, but definitely countries like China, Russia, and yes, Iran have very sophisticated internet departments, and they are likely monitoring things this. While some forewarning might not turn the tide, it might result in US deaths, injuries, or loss of millions of dollars of equipment.
This could be an inflection point to use to change the congressional rules. The increase in oil and MIC trading before we attacked Iran very well could have given them a clue that allowed them to be better prepared. Again, it didn't change the outcome but there may have been deaths and destruction that would not have occurred otherwise.
Breaches of OpSec can NOT be ignored.

People are not ok with him being prosecuted for it. He's playing by the same rules as our lawmakers and being punished for it.

of course he did. prediction markets do just that, predict.
if you are a bad guy and suddenly people start betting on your capture, you should run.
its clearly a security breach.
I dunno what penalty it should be, maybe a slap on the wrist. buts wrong. its a secret mission.
