Refineries are optimized for heavier and sour crude. Not the light sweet that comes from Permian basin.
Drill baby drill, have little impact as we still import a lot of the crude to refine. The whole reason for the XL pipeline Trump fought for?
Energy tariffs will bump the price. One time price bump that will then be baked it, but it will be there like the rest of the taxes we pay which set the floor at the pump.
We need to incentivize new refineries. Should never have been allowed to decrease refinery capacity at the beginning of Covid.
Get the environmentalist out of the way and build some beautiful big new refineries situated right next to a chemical plant.
But the other countries love our cheap crude. Good stuff and helping to stabilize world market.

This will be extremely short lasting as oil is down to $60. It was $90 a year ago. $75-80 for most of past 12 months.
Gasoline should drop in price very soon.

quote:Prices always rise in April and May as demand goes up along with the switch to the more expensive to produce summer blend.
I can't figure out what's making prices jump when oil is tanking, as referenced in the article.

Takes time to work through the system. Prices you are paying today are from another days oil price
FWIW gasoline futures are actually up 1.09% YTD
