I remember a few years back a the son of a Saudi dipolomat killed someone here in the US and he was allowed to just go back to SA. (iirc)
This stuff happens a lot in the US, and the attache cases diplomats and their families carry are not allowed to be searched by US customs or LE officials. There was a big story about how they bring drugs and weapons into the US and theirs nothing the US can do about it because of.. diplomatic immunity.
But I suspect the family's of US diplomats are doing the same thing so

The US can waive her diplomatic immunity and extradite her to the UK if she is charged with a crime. That'd be the right thing to do.
Yeah but the current WH admin is a little angry with the UK. He will let them twist in the wind for a little bit

I thought everybody drove on the wrong side of the road over there.

When you drive on the right side of the road your entire life it's not hard to switch to the left you just have to be constantly aware that you need to stay left. I have found myself defaulting to right side rules in left side countries on accident especially on unmarked roads (like parking lots).
Didn't Matthew Brocerick kill someone in Ireland because of this?
