Just in Lafayette Parish, there were 685,503 unique vehicle plate readings in the preceding 30 days and 48,167 hotlist hits. The info is only retained 30 days and dumped

They do more good than bad. I’m fine with it. There was a string of car break ins around where I live and the dipshits that were doing it thought just taking off the license plate of their getaway car would keep them from being caught.
Wildly unpopular opinion but as a law abiding citizen I have absolutely 0 issue with flock
The people against these things are those with something to hide, they know someone committing crimes or they sympathize with them “being forced into crime”

again, this was a human failure, can you cite how many instances this has happened vs all the violent crime it solved
So when it goes wrong, human failure. When it catches a criminal, success of the technology.
Wow, that is almost impossible to argue against it.

Just like red light cameras.
It is all about money.
Same with seatbelt violations.
I can get a seatbelt violation ticket while driving 25mpn in my full sized 4WD.
Meanwhile it's legal to fly down the Highway 70mph on a Harley,
When a Highway Patrol Motorcycle Cop is handing seatbelt violations to a guy in a Silverado you know it's BS.

But again, when it gives shitty info or just false info it is a huge problem. But it gets trivialized by people wanting a surveillance police state.

The entire nation will be rendered an open air prison, and you will like it.

The argument against Flock gets trivialized when people lump Flock in with any negative outcome regardless of whether or not it was the actual cause of that negative outcome.
The shitty info or false info was not from the Flock camera in this particular event but the flag on the license plate for a murder issued by Milwaukee cops still being active even though the Milwaukee cops had cleared the vehicle. Any cop calling in those plates would have seen the same murder flag on the vehicle and pulled it over thinking driver might have been involved in a murder.

None of what you posted answers the question of how these are justified. The question still stands, if flock isn't any better than the previous system of having local PD call in a license plate, and the system has far more vulnerabilities, more legal and constitutional downsides (if constitutional at all), why are our tax dollars going to it again, against public will?
Posting about an issue that was not actually caused by a Flock error but by the error or laziness by police authorities in one city failing to update or clear a flag they had issued on the vehicle in relation to a murder isn’t asking a question. It’s straw manning the topic.
One can have concerns about Flock and even be completely against it while being rational and objective enough to understand what the actual issue was in this particular case.

Like I said, giving shitty people tools to be more shitty will be defended.

This thread is based on an issue caused by the police not updating records/flags they put out on the vehicle for a murder which just happened to be picked by a Flock camera. Considering the vehicle was flagged as a vehicle related to a murder it would have likely been picked up other ways (especially in relatively nearby areas), had plates run by cops in various ways, and still would had a similar police response as long as the Milwaukee cops kept failing to remove the flag for a murder on this vehicle.
There are actual examples of Flock being abused including tracking individuals without a warrant (including the officers tracking people for personal reasons), but in this specific instance you choose to minimize the issue by pushing an issue not directly caused by Flock and then doubling down with straw man arguments.

There's a lot of angles to suggest these cameras are terrible. Innocent people getting weapons pointed at them because of lazy policing is just one. There's that angle, abuse angle, the legal angle, the slippery slope angle, hidden agendas, cyber security,... Pick your poison.... And for what? At best you get the same result once they go in. No one has been able to show they actually bring down crime.

This is the first time in human history a police officer has pulled over the wrong person.
Flock has to stop

The girl on the right is wearing a Gruber Law shirt. (Gruber Law is the Milwaukee dollar store version of Morgan and Morgan.)
They're definitely up in it looking for money. Maybe the old lady can afford a shirt that actually reaches her waist.

Amazing how these sorts of things are entirely normal, so much so that the woman is held at gunpoint- twice, because of lazy policing and a system that is not administered correctly.

So using this particular incident or shitty tool as an argument against Flock shouldn’t be defended then. Glad we are on the same page.
OP and others should use the incidents that were only caused by Flock like actual errors by Flock, tracking someone using Flock without a warrant, cops abusing the system for personal reasons, and so on.
The incident in the OP is about cops putting people in danger by reporting & flagging vehicles for heinous crimes like murder to law enforcement in other areas and then being too lazy to clear it out of that same reporting system after the vehicle has been cleared by them.

Yeah, but the flock cameras made sure the cops could find them quickly. And without prejudice.
Basically flock amped up the retard cops then claimed it wasn't their fault when the tards went off.

FIFY. The really fricked up part of this story is that in every jurisdiction this woman goes to it will be the same response. She's been effective banished from travel because of a system that requires no oversight, warrants, or real accuracy. In fact this system is a fantastic way to off someone you don't like- get their name and vehicle on a hot list, make some crazy allegations and let the system do the work for you.
