I used to deliver coke to the Charleston Regional Airport (the beverage, not the powder). Had an escort and hauled the pallets underneath the jet bridges while the planes sat there, engines running.
Crazy to think if one of those engines blew I could've seen a lady fly through a window out onto the tarmac. Or a fat lady's head pop out the side like a vertical whack a mole.
Side note: Always thought it was funny that the airport police officer who came to check the truck would always joke & say something like "lets see, what do we have here.. Black tar heroine? Few bombs? Idk cant see nothing but pallets. You're good".

How many more passengers have their window shades lowered on flights right now? And maybe a bit more of a lean toward the aisles.

I have no idea. My comments have all been based on pure speculation from seeing a couple of pics in this thread. For all I know, the window failed first and was ingested by the engine. But I doubt it. A more likely guess is that something in the engine rotating at very high speed failed and started slinging fragments, with a piece large enough to shatter the window (or pierce the fuselage in an area not shown in the pics) and then striking the victim and killing her. But I'm just guessing.

Actually no. The number of deaths per manned space flights would be many many times the deaths from flying or even driving.
Unless you're considering the miles an astronaut is orbiting in the shuttle or space station. But that's not entirely an apples to apples safety comparison with driving in a car or even flying.

I read where one of the passengers said it was a girl flying with her dad that was partially sucked out.
That she had a heart attack from the shock that may have caused her death, if not injury.
