I will drive my TDI as normal and pocket the cash. I had planned on driving it until the wheels fell of anyway.
I think the judge gives the ruling Tuesday.

Same here. Unless the buyback is just too good to pass up. You basically get a year or so of no depreciation.

That's kinda big for me since I put almost 50k per year on mine. It was worth way more pre scandal than now if nothing else for the drastic difference in mileage.

I don't think that will be an option.

Looking forward to seeing what they will do with leased vehicles, as some prior reports indicated there may be a cash payment in addition to early lease terminations. I want VW to give me some cash and then I can give them the car.

I don't think pre-scandal value means anything as far as mileage. I would think it would just make up for whatever percentage value the cars dropped as a result of the scandal.
We've been knowing for a while what was going to happen for the most part. I want details, dates, dollar values, etc.

Yea it doesn't. They're just going to use the same formula they were using the day before the scandal broke.
I'm sticking to my guess. You will not have a letter from Volkswagen detailing the action until September.

Since september, my car's a/c went suspect and the CEL came on 2 weeks ago. Hopefully they pull up the KBB value from September, factor in mileage, then give $5k.
I paid $28k for the car and got the $2500 tax credit. The prescandal value was about $13k. $5k on top of that mears I got a great car for 7 years about $89 a month. Yes, please.

I'm torn. The idea of a new car is always nice. But I'm almost done paying this one off. Plus there's nothing wrong with the car. And I can't think of another vehicle I want that I can get close to the same mileage. And I drive 60-70 miles per day. At least not in this price range. Looking at a hybrid Lexus, but now I'm spending a lot more money. This was a good quality car in a good price range. Now I don't have many options.

I agree, I have no idea what I will get. I am in a rental because I the water pump failed, and mine is in the shop. Diving a POS Jeep patriot. While I am getting 27 mpg in this thing, I filled up twice already today. When I was at the dealership they said there was a rumor floating that they might be selling new TDIs before long.

Would love to swap plus a little cash for a new TDI.

So our 2013 Passat TDI will get bought back?
I get letters in the mail weekly from lawyers and other shtt giving so many directions VW will take that I stopped reading them.

FYI for anyone looking for other options, there is a law firm in Louisiana that is suing VW for about 100k per vehicle. A google search will turn up the info.

I can finally find out what this thing will do on that Nola track with my Viper-racing buddy driving it
Posted on 6/24/16 at 12:48 pm to wickowick
I couldn't do that. Realistically this scandal has had zero effect on my life to this point other than making me waste a few minutes on TD

When was Toyota's "step on my dick" moment? 2 years ago? I haven't heard one word about that in the past year

I won't be buying a new car, but I know what you mean. All the attributes of the car aren't really found in anything else; I went in to look at a Tiguan and bought wagon. A GTI would be nice, but it's too boy racer for me. My money would probably go towards a 2011 328i wagon m-sport.

VW is "making it right", but it still will be a while before I buy from them again. Audi TDI was maybe my next upgrade, but not now, no matter the results of the fixes. A lot of money to put faith in a company that obviously is willing to gamble with what they put out.
