Too many red flags for me. The whole thing where he monitors his daughters checkbook is way too much. Get ready for after you get married, she will be driving to their house after fights.

Bingo.
Never seen such selfish, pretentious fools

Honestly, if this meant really anything, and we got married, I would ask the parents to leave the financials to us. I would make it extremely clear actually before we got married.
However, this is still a choice. You can still leave.

You might be the biggest beta on this site. I'm guessing you've taken part in a few gender reveal parties?

What do you mean? Do you think it is okay for her to date a guy and try to turn him into her father? She should be willing to at least compromise, but she has set an unrealistic goal and expects him to meet that goal.

Been here a long time. A long, long time. Been called many things. Never been called a beta before.
The betas and SJWs have taken over. They can't distinguish themselves from the rest of society.
Damn. Damn shame

Did I miss something? Admittedly I only skimmed but from what I gathered she has a good dad who took care of her and loved her and spent time with the family first and foremost but this dude only cares about what he wants to do.
Is that it?

You need distance from this woman for some length of time. Get away from her for a while. She sounds like a crazy bitch. You're sounding a little crazy also. Seriously, you need distance for a while to get your sh!t together.

Correction. She will treat him the way her mom treats her dad, essentially.
No. She will treat him like she treats her mom.
Her parents have a perfect relationship, I bet she never fights with her dad, but I bet her and her mom get into it. And that's how she will treat him. Book it.

You pretty much nailed it.
OP wants to hunt and fish and get his way. OP's father in law had no hobbies and just provided for the family.

AT the end of the day, isn't the man's primary job in life to provide for his family? Everything else is secondary.

made 10-12 hour trips with my dad without stopping until HE needed to.
he also used to do donuts with me in the backseat on ice in big open parking lots.

Yeah. I put my wife and my kid first. They're happy, then I'm happy. If they're miserable, I'll make them happy again before I do something for myself. Call it what you want but I bust my arse to make sure my family is provided for and I wouldn't have it any other way.

OP ask her why she wants to bring YOUR relationship down.
