so much irony, your name, considering the situation....

anyway, who was the contractor? there are others that may need a remodel that you could greatly help in avoiding a shitty contractor...

I've never heard of a contractor self imposing late penalties on himself. It's the dumbest thing ever.

I've already posted that my credit card disputed was withheld and I got the money back that I thought was fair. I guess I should update the OP.

No. You didn't "pay in full".

Bottom line is this. You aren't going to get money back that you didn't actually pay in. Move on and do a better job vetting your contractors next time.

No, I'm not. The credit card company will only pay for a dispute for actual charges that were made. They will not reimburse penalties that were never charged to the card. That is what you implied in your original post. Were you not being truthful when you posted it?

ETA: I feel for your situation in that your house was not repaired properly and hope you get the situation resolved. Contractors can suck and the one you had certainly seems to have fit the profile of robbing Peter to pay Paul and getting caught.

Well, they did already reimburse me and completed the dispute. No further action can be taken with my bank from the contractor. I requested reimbursement from my bank for work not completed and unsatisfactory work, and also mentioned the late fees.

So yes, you are wrong. I'm not being an arse, I'm just stating a fact.

So, the "late fees" were charged to your card? Again, you can't be reimbursed for money that wasn't charged. Maybe you just did a poor job explaining in your original post because there is no credit card company on earth that is going to reimburse or credit for charges that were not incurred. It simply isn't going to happen.

And again, good luck getting the house back in shape.

Yes, because he was so far past the due date that the late fees caught up with what I had already paid, so in a sense, he owed me money and would continue to owe me more and more with each additional week late if he had continued on the project.

Yeah, I'm just here to bullshite everyone.

I provided an update in case people end up in a similar situation, and find this thread.

FWIW - The bank didn't ask for my itemized list of chargebacks that tied to the scope of work (which included my late fees calculation). I don't even think I had to send them a single thing. I just told them everything that he hadn't completed and things that would need to be redone, along with him being late and the late penalties. They may have well thought that I had enough to justify the disputed charges without considering the late fees, but that's just speculation.
