I thought the OP said the atm tech robbed the bank??

That's the new thing. They damage the ATM, wait for the tech to show up, and then rob him.

As someone else mentioned, wouldn't it be normal for the tech to have security with him? If not to protect, to insure the tech didn't get a fist full of dollahs.

My company services and installs bank equipment, including atm. This is the 3rd atm tech I’ve heard of in south Louisiana getting hit the past few weeks

Les Miles has clearly lost control of Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery.

I thought the money was kept inside more of a safe/vault within the ATM and most tech work could be done without accessing that? In fact, it’s bonkers if the techs even have access to the money part while alone. But I guess they do.
Just tell your friends to come rob you - I’ll be at capital one in 20 mins come and get me hehe ;)

Seems like their insurance would demand at least two people, both obviously armed

Bump for update.
Two men have been arrested in connection with robbing a Lafayette ATM Friday morning, according to Lafayette Police.
The Lafayette Police Department responded Nov. 3 to a report of a robbery in progress at Capital One branch at 4416 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.
The two suspects identified by Lafayette Police Department are Jermaine Clay, 40, and Daquaylon Williams, 22, both of Breaux Bridge. Clay is charged with one count of principal to simple robbery, and Williams is charged with simple robbery.
Both suspects were arrested without incident and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, according to authorities. The investigation is still ongoing.

I work at a bank. Sometimes those technicians need access to the money dispenser, the vault where the money canisters are housed. Our protocol is to pull those canisters, bring them inside, and place them in the main vault anytime the ATM is getting serviced. I’m surprised a national financial institution like Capital One doesn’t have the same protocols.

Most ATM techs are not going to remove cassettes from an ATM to take them into a bank. It is a huge liability issue.
Unfortunately tech robberies are becoming more and more common as of late.
