automobiles are huge wastes of money.....and one can't hardly beat a used honda or toyota for the first cpl cars at least.

He is 16. He wants a car. What's wrong with that? Most 16 year olds want to drive when they turn 16 and he doesn't have rich parents like his friends that just give them a new car when they turn 16.
I did the same when I was 15/16. Worked my arse off. Finally bought a car a few months after I turned 16 for $2,000. At the time I only made $5.50 an hour and $20 a game for umpiring so getting to $2,000 took a lot of work.
He is a good student and gets good grades. His parents just don't have the money to do things like buy him cars and such. I think he is better off for this in the long run than his spoiled friends who won't have to work until they graduate college and get brand new Lexuses or F250s for their 16th birthday

I thought adults talking about their kids travel ball teams was sad and pathetic. FWIW, nobody gives a shite about Randall's fast food job offers and how he's trying to negotiate with set minimum wage wages. The kid, or better you, sound like a pain in the arse to deal with.

Not sure if this applies to Randall, but not being able to pull some Sunday hours can be difficult for a kid that's still in school.
