I'd still like to see a comparison to a group where someone is sitting in the passenger seat talking to them. My theory is that it's even more distracting than a cell phone on hands free mode.

No joke. Or what about eating while driving? Or putting make up on? How is using and following a GPS safer than talking on a phone? I've used a GPS in a city i've never been to and it was not easy at all to follow it and follow the road signs.

The law should be that when a light turns green, the person in from of you gets 2 Mississippi's before it's legal to run them off the road, drag them out of their car, and beat them mercilessly. Just my $.02.

The bill passed out of committee to the House floor. As it stands, hands free would be okay, but an amendment was added today that would make it against the law to even hold the phone in your hand while driving, regardless if you are using it or not.

Republicans will limit cell phones but not guns. Interesting

I don't think you can use a gun while driving. Outside of maybe some specific circumstances.

They really just need to pass a law where people that suck at driving aren't allowed to drive.

Apparently handsfree calling would still be OK.

I wonder how much money our politicians that pass these hands free phone only laws get from the companies that make those products.

It’s BS that holding a phone makes you more distracted than using a hands free device. It’s not your hand holding the phone distracting you. It’s your mind being on the call distracting you. I usually drive with one hand. Are they going to make that illegal next?

They banned texting and driving in Texas.

But only peer to peer messaging in banned.

You can still type away in safari or waze.

It’s an unenforceable joke and honestly will just become the new your tail light is busted to pull someone over
