I'll never forget how I had a good thing going and was talking with 2 of them, and then some jackass messaged them on facebook and told them we were worshipping them here, and they both deleted me :(

these comments….like they say, real life is stranger than fiction. for some reason a lot of these comments are hilarious to me, because the situation is so absurd. Mysterious bullet holes in your apartment, going on a message board to seek advice on what to do, troubled neighbor.
Maybe I'm morbid, or stupid or something.

Apparently he is also the apartment owners son (which would explain how he was able to live here).
Is he the son of the individual who owns the particular apartment where the sidearm was discharged?
OR
Is he the son of the owner of the apartment complex?
ETA: If the former, complain to management while making plans to move.
If it's the latter, GTFO, and begin carrying at all times while greatly altering your normal routine!

He said that the manager of the complex probably wouldn't do anything because he's the owners son.
So it has to be the son of the whole complex.

or, could just be a long time manager who became friends with a long time resident/owner of a single apartment unit?

Concern #1. OP said the bullet holes were around 6' high. were they both 6' high or were they at an upward trajectory? If they were relatively close to the same height then hat means the neighbor was cleaning his gun while holding the gun up in the air at head level?
That would be extremely unlikely.
Concern #2. The neighbor didn't know to check for bullets in the gun while cleaning it AND didn't bother to check up on anyone after firing a gun into his neighbor's residence?
Concern #3. Connections/Texas justice is for sale. The shooter is basically the OP's landlord. Cops know he has a past but does not think its a big deal even though shooting a gun into a home is a very serious offense. Disorderly conduct is not the proper charge. This lets the TPOS neighbor know that the OP is a good target since he has no clout.

Even if they are slightly above wah other, who cleans a gun pointing it up in the air? I always check to see if it's loaded, then keep it pointed away from me and at the ground.

Pretty obvious if the first bullet hole is in the wall and the last hole is in the ceiling.

This is a good question.
It was my original understanding that he was the son of the owner of the complex. But that doesn't make much sense as the complex is own by company that owns multiple apartment complexes across the nation. So now I'm beginning to think the dad just owns the individual unit, and I'm hoping this is the case.
Will try and clarify tomorrow after meeting with manager.

Would explain why he has had multiple run ins with cops, but no consequences, fires a gun into someone's dwelling without any issues, and is able to live in a gated complex with background checks now that you know he has a record, a rocky past, is dumb, and the cops have his back.
The owner of the company has to stash his dipshit loser son somewhere.

Ah, I missed that part. OP needs to bust out some MS paint. We need a horizontal view, like Super Mario Bros style.
If the first hole is 5' high and the 2nd one is say 8' high, and the room the shooter was in is approximately the same size then we could surmise that the shooter's gun was no lower than 3' high (which is close to table height), but that's just if he was all the way at the other end of the room. If he was in the middle then you'd be looking at 5'6, which is probably shoulder level for a person 5'10 to 6'2. I'm interested to know how much further the bullet traveled before it reached the hight of the ceiling, since it went into the attic.
OP said it was in the closet so that's probably a short distance, indicating a more upward angle, yet it doesn't sound like the bullet went at that steep of an angle as it went across the room. (i.e. if the room is 12' wide and the bullet went 3' higher, then that's only 1' of height gained for every 4' travelled.) I'm not sure if sheetrock can cause bullets to change trajectory. Maybe it can, especially after multiple passes through sheetrock.
Come on BeYou, let's get all CSI:Miami.

This is a good question.
If you don't know the answer, then don't trust the neighbor or the manager. They could be buddies and may try to disregard or down-play what has occurred.
See if you can get the info from an objective source, possibly a long time resident of the complex who you may already have some rapport with.
If the manager and the tenant that discharged the weapon don't do everything within reason to alleviate your concerns, don't be afraid voice your issue to someone higher in the property management chain.
Meanwhile, prepare to move.

Can one break lease over this?
You have that apartment complex by the balls. You can do what you want. If you really want to move I would not blink thinking about the lease. They can't require you to stay when they have other tenants literally slinging bullets into your apartment.

With some striker fired pistols, you need to dry fire the weapon to take the slide off.
