From what I can understand he was there to serve a civil summons, knocked on the door, no one answered (because no one was home), so he goes in and proceeds to shoot and kill the family dog.

(Spoiler: he’s now a deputy in another North Carolina county.)

Sidenote: if you live in Wayne Co, NC, your dog’s life is in danger.

We all have hobbies. Why do we always try to take them away from cops?

Honestly, I'm less concerned about the dog and more concerned about the motherfricker illegally entering a home just......because. Yeah, frick him for the dog, but what the hell?

Back the blue. This young man just wanted to return to his family after the shift when this dog head butted some bullets.

Take the dog entirely out of the equation. What you have is a cop illegally entering a home to serve a civil summons, not criminal......there was nothing criminal at all, apparently.

Now, imagine they didn't have cameras......that jackass would have gone into their home illegally without anyone knowing, and he would have just continued on in his job like nothing happened.

ETA: Hell, they need to hire the legal services of Afroman.

Looked like over half the entire sheriff’s department entered the home and hung out looking around for almost an hour before bothering to even notify the homeowner they were there.

They did not say if the murderer had his body cam turned on when he approached the front door, or all the way through him breaking and entering.

I’m guessing the deputy didn’t have a body cam, or at least didn’t have it turned on. Thankfully this family had their own surveillance system that proved this dipshit is also a lying sack of shite.

At this point not turning on a body cam should be a fireable offense across all departments.
