No doubt he had a burner phone.
I don't think he can kill himself with that.

If they can prove the parents lied about him being there, they will bill the parents for that expense.
That’s silly. How can you prove the parents lied when they said, “He told me…”?

library
Really? Why would they go to a library? That could be as innocent as making copies, or they could be using a visitor’s pass to use the internet. Interesting.

Could be sending him a message on the burner phone.

If they were being followed by law enforcement, why would they go to a library to send BL a message?

In most cases, the LE would need a warrant to get any info from the library about what was done on the computer.
Of course LE could’ve just followed them into the library to see what they were doing - and maybe that happened.

If they have open internet then that would be a great place to send him a message without them being able to trace it. Now if they need an access card then that would be a different story. I just don't think this guy went and killed himself after driving back across the country. If he was going to do it why not out west where he could have driven over a cliff?

Officers now walking back to their cars. They’re asking one another “what the address of the call” was

Very plausible that he never intended to initially commit suicide but he runs out of other options and does it anyway.

Reporters on scene are speculating it was some kind of bogus call, given how quickly the arrival departure officers was

She had not been reported missing at that time. He may have thought at the time he could come up with a story on what happened that would absolve him. He left his parents' home after this story heated up. I think he saw the handwriting on the wall that he was going to be charged with something. I would be surprised if he thought he could leave, disappear and be on the run forever. I just don't think that's what he did.

Would we know if he crossed either border? He had time.
