Cool, thanks. I'm going to run that program starting in August. Looks like it'll be a bitch, but fun.

Are you going to follow the diet protocol?

I took about a month off from the gym when I moved. Just started back last week, and I'm using Wendler's method. The app I downloaded has several different suggested accessory workouts for each exercise. They don't seem to match closely with the various Wendler recommended workouts, although one has a similar name.
I think the guy who wrote them was an idiot because one of the deadlift accessory workouts consisted of 5 sets of 10 deadlifts at 50% max. Shouldn't it be something like good mornings or even deadlifts using a different stance? Perhaps it would make more sense to do that on a non deadlift day?

sounds like they should be done as speed work.
that is a good conjugate lift.

How old are you? At some point you have to reach your limit without gear.
I think I can advance for 48 weeks straight given I started way low with weight maxes. 430 is beastly. Not sure how much benefit there is for going above that unless your competing or just a huge guy.

i just started StrongLift 5x5. its basically the same workout.
Posted on 7/21/15 at 3:55 pm to Tiger Ryno
Lol 5/3/1 and Stronglifts aren't even close to being similar. I would give you Stronglifts and Starting Strength.

Yeah they are two total different animals.

The app is Wendler Log by Vandersoft. The suggested assistance workouts come with the app.

Yes. For one thing, 5/3/1 doesn't make sense for beginners. It's just not enough intensity.
Posted on 7/21/15 at 5:13 pm to uway
I guess that depends on how one defines intensity.
It's too much intensity in the sense of the percentages of the load being used.
A beginner needs to perfect the movement patterns so that when they do workout more intensely injuries will be minimized and CNS and motor units function optimally

Nah, just eat a lot of protein in general. Enough to gain but i won't hardcore track it. Too much of a veteran for that. Besidea i love meat and cheese so snacking takes care of itself.

The new 5-3-1 is interesting.
Its 90% of your 90% 1 rep max, etc.
That's different than how the original 5-3-1 was laid out.
