These guys in the big trucks hauling arse in a downpour drive me crazy. If I have the kids with me I go flashers on and drive on the shoulder.

Initial hot take, this mornings data (models plus observations) is more concerning than last week's high risk.

Columbus is where I live . They are predicting it to get ugly after lunch. Good luck and be careful

Y’all stay safe today. It’s beautiful on the other side of those storms.

CenLA free agent met checks in (about an hour ago)

quote:

Meteorologist Nick Mikulas
Trends continue to be friendly for most of Louisiana, but a potentially historic severe weather day is on tap for Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
I can’t quite sound the all clear locally until the front moves through and takes away the moisture and instability. But most indications are that these storms don’t truly take off until they get close to the Mississippi River. That’s only about 50 miles from my house as the crow flies, so it’s entirely possible that one or two storms crank up in our area. That’s why we are still in a slight risk for severe weather. If a storm does get going, there would be a threat for all modes of severe weather, but again, that chance is pretty low from what I’m seeing. Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, and Tensas Parish have a better chance to see a severe storm, but again, the worst of this should be east of you, though it only takes one. This environment would easily support severe storms, with the big if being, will we get a storm? I’ll be watching things until the front clears. That’s probably around 1:00-2:00 here in Alexandria, and along the River by 4:00-5:00.

Since I’m driving right into the high risk area today I’ll act as the official OT weather thread storm chaser and post any good pics I manage to capture.

Eastbound and down
