So how many can they get out in a day? And my dtr asked how they decide who goes first?? I told her maybe they'd go youngest to oldest? Or if they're the only boy in the family (cultural issue??). Idk.

And to think I'm sad that my baby will be a senior in hs and is applying to colleges far far away. Shame on me for real.

The best players go first. Bench warmers go last. Gotta teach these kids a lesson. It pays to be a winner.

If I’m one of those kids I want to go last. If they start pulling kids out and things go south I want them to maybe reevaluate their plan. I don’t want to be the guinea pig.

If i had to guess, I think this is a situation where they may actually take the strongest boys first. That way if the strongest ones can’t get through then they know they have to come up with a different plan

Edit: not saying that the strongest ones don’t live, just that say the abort after realizing it’s too hard and go back... if you tak the weak first, and it doesn’t work, you don’t know if it’s bc it won’t work for anyone or if it’s just bc those boys were weaker

Probably the ones who are most in need of medical attention. I remember reading that 3 were not doing as well as others.

Well I'm wondering if the first one or one at some point doesn't "go right" do they stop and reformulate the plan??

The guy on the reddit AMA said it was a rite of passage for kids to go into the cave and write their names on the wall.

According to the guy doing the AMA the caves are considers pretty harmless unless it’s rainy season.

That’s what is escaping me. How in the heck are there currents when the only time these caves have water is during the rainy season? Plus, there are gaps in the caves which creates a natural current barrier. I don’t get it. Are there fissures in the rock which is allowing more rain in. Looking at the video feeds, it doesn’t appear to be like The Goonies landscape.

I’m very happy the US divers are there. This is freaking amazing

No issues with them going into the cave. However, I do question why wasn’t there a guide? Did the coach that led them in have experience going this route? Why didn’t any parents attend or chaperone the trip into the cave.

I know it’s hindsight questions but still I just wonder how this could have been prevented.

I would assume because there is a large volume of water from all of the rain which is creating the current. From all of the maps it looks like the big concern is one section. So I don’t think there is a current running through the whole cave.

Is anyone watching that live feed? Looks like they’re about to have a press conference.

This wasn’t the first time the entire team has gone in these caves. They’ve done it several times. Just bad luck/timing.

Glad they rode their bikes there though...I’m oretty sure that’s when people realized there were people trapped in the cave.

I would think the only prevention would have not been going in. But it sounds like it's a common thing. Even a guide I wouldn't think would have helped --- if it rains it rains and they'd have kept moving?? But Idk shite.

And it's not America obviously. Maybe it's the norm for parents to not attend the practice and participate in post practice activities??

Idk. I hate though that it happened.
