The cave goes down and up and the water there rose due to the rain. They have to swim downward and then up again (several times maybe) to get out. Strong currents, no visability, and very tight passages make it even more difficult.
Plus, it’s a very long distance. The divers have to travel over a mile. That’s a long dive through muddy waters, very limited visibility, strong currents, narrow passageways, and it all takes several hours.
It’s a dangerous trek for experts. Many of these kids can barely swim.

Drill into the biggest cavern along the route. Hole can also be used for MASSIVE VOLUME pumps to empty part of the flooded spots that is between the kids and the hole.
Rescuers have drilled almost 100 shafts into the cave but aren’t optimistic about breaking through to the boys.

Survival of the fittest. Sorry but y'all made a dumb decision to go that deep into a cave. If rescuers keep dying they need to call this off.
On another note this story is giving me Ted's Caving Page story flashbacks.

Oh my goodness, what a callous and vile post. Shame on you.

Your entire post is inaccurate
It's actually pretty accurate. Its not like there is a road set up to bring all the equipment up a mountain and not to mention its in the middle of a forest on the side of a mountain.

I know nothing about cave diving so if this sounds preposterous let me know. Given that these kids really can't swim and the distance is incredibly long, why not anchor steel wire through the route that the kids can use to guide themselves out?

Just give them a stockpile of food and let them walk out once the monsoon season ends. We shouldn't send rescuers to their deaths to save idiots.

It’s still under water
Obviously. But being able to pull yourself along a guidewire seems much easier and quicker than trying to swim out with scuba gear on.

I think I read that they believe the part they're in is susceptible to flooding is the rains are heavy

They have already set guide lines but that is only of marginal help. Some of the passages are so tight you have to remove equipment and contort yourself to get through. This is a challenging passage for experts. Cave diving is beyond the capacity of most scuba divers, and these kids don't even know how to swim. I think if they try to dive them out it will only be as a last ditch effort because they're facing imminent death.

I've been snorkeling in a cave and they had cable guides for scuba divers. Seems plausible.

So much stupid in this thread

I've read that in many places, but I don't understand how the group made it through even when it was dry.

Thanks.
Like I said, I don't have a clue when it comes to this topic. Such a shitty situation.

I'm assuming they came in via a different route that's impassable now.

My ? Is how the hell did they get there before? If it's so treacherous to get to them how's they get there in the first place
