Yes, this is understandable but these protections aren't removed on any emergency basis unless it's to further protect an endangered marine species.

What’s going on about shrimp boats ? I’ve been on the water and not keeping up. Could someone please bring me up to date. Thank You.

It something to basically do with saving and not harming sea turtles.
TEDs are allowed/not allowed and the searchers wa t the opposite so that they can trawl the gulf.
I’ve learned from 08 that this is a federal thing though and not a JBE thing. BUT I would think that he could try to appear to give a crap and at least try to get an exemption of some sort?
I’m not super clear but if you have fb Christifer DeRouen is pleading for people to go to Moran’s Marine and help — he’s right when he says that he people in that area know their area best. He’s from new Iberia I think but is working his rear off to help Dylan Daspits dad and the Cajun Navy — it’s them and volunteers and that's it. No one else.
I guess I’m just thinking of those families and am too emotionally invested in this despite not knowing a darn one of them.
Anyway nothing found today as far as I have read.

I think some on here are calling for shrimping season to start early and do away with TEDs in order for shrimpers to comb areas and keep lookout while they trawl.
Tiger91 is advocating for the Governer to make these changes. Some on here have tried to tell him that these changes cannot, nor will not, be made for search and rescue purposes. The only thing that could be done at this point is more overhead aerial viewing of the area. Not sure those efforts will be undertaken.

I'm passing along information from those who are doing the searching and running into road blocks. Tiger91 isn't advocating for anything other than these guys to be found and brought home.

I’m trying to catch up on the Facebook stuff. Trying to weed through the folks that are dumb arse and people that speak entirely from emotions is a chore.
I want them found. But in reality the survival window has closed. People lost to the GOM for two weeks are rarely found.

Too bad the Star Redfish tournament hasn’t started yet. You’d have so many boats out there that you could almost walk across them without getting your feet wet.

The best I can tell you so I don’t get it wrong is to go to fb and search Christifer DeRouen. It has to do with a net modification.
He’s done some live videos and talked about the problems. I can’t link here without linking my page — he’s talked about TEDs and yes I know what they are but their use/lack of use (that part I don’t understand) is part of the problem.
All I know is he and others were asking for help contacting JBE to give some exemption so that trawling could be done.
Also the guy named above has talked with Jeff Landry as well as had a conference call with the CG and I think NOAA and the 30 seconds it to him to get to the phone the other parties hung up.
I’m not involved other than reading and trying to help by sharing info. The only people looking are volunteers.
And yes more life vests and a life raft we’re located — doesn’t mean that they were used but who knows. I either missed it earlier or posted “no new Info” before that was out.
Also I’m a woman — I just want these families to have their people back. I’m no good to anyone near water or walking through the marsh.
The latest is the they’re asking for volunteers around Lighthouse Point In I think vermilion Bay.

I’m going to get blasted but from what I read Chris needs to go home and take a nap.
Sorry but I don’t think a lot of people understand the vastness of the GOM. And they certainly don’t understand shrimp boats.
Although if I was wanting to promote my business of searching for people on a national level to get donations,shrimp boats are the way to go.
They sound romantic and burn lots of fuel. If I could collect donations on a national level for shrimp boat fuel I could rake the bucks.

I won't blast you and yes, he does likely need a very long nap ... and IDK what their intentions are. Again, I'm just sharing what I read on his page and Spencer Gremillion.
I tend to be too trusting so my view is that they just really want to be able to bring these guys home to their families. Maybe it's a fundraising promotion but by my nature I'm going with they're trying to help. It's ok to disagree cause we're adults.
Also the Talos VP posted pics yesterday of him fishing in the Gulf and drinking in NOLA ... should he not go? Whatever, but damn don't post it while this search is still going on. He deleted it after he got roasted -- you can about imagine the comments.
