I do think that i read it has sleeping quarters for 50 .. so glad that it wasn't more on the boat as 19 was enough.

And yes, I guess they could have been just bunched together ... I haven't heard that the vests were tied together or anything .. only that there are 6 (some accounts say 7?) and a beacon was cut off. They also found a hard hat but I'm sure that that likely just floated??

MAYBE they reached land and took the vests off? No one has any way to know but someone had a good point -- maybe they could try thermo-cams (or whatever they're called) and someone who knew what they were doing could distinguish between wildlife and a person/group??

They just need and want closure. I'm so sad for them all.

I read that they found 7 life jacets tied together witha water bottle stuck in the middle, they also found hard hats as well.

They are searching the islands South of Cocodrie today. That would be awesome if they found the missing 7

I hadn't heard that they were tied together and that the water bottle was "near" it.

The question I do have is regarding the beacon being cut off ... can those black straps get torn/caught on something but have a clean cut OR would it be "different looking" depending on if it had been cut or torn??

I'm just so wanting them found alive BUT closure for the families would be better than never being found.

And if y'all are on FB Christifer DeRouen has a few things to tell the CG. Spencer Gremillion, SL Scanner, and the DeRouen guy I find have great updates.

I imagine I wouldn't be too concerned with a clean cut in that scenario. If I didnt have a knife I would have chewed it off

if the life vest is "clipped" back to itself, it wasn't used. that's how we save them back into the life vest containers after drills or after use. as for the beacon being cut off, not sure. i know i used to cut off some of the whistles back in the day and tape them inside of the grills of some vehicles.

the water bottle could simply be trash from the rig or another vessel. south padre island collects about 80% of all stuff dropped in the gulf.

THUET class they teach you to make a chain in the water survival class. Maybe they tied the life jackets together so that they were more noticeable from above.

one of the life vests that i saw was attached back to itself. that's a common way of saving them when done. i don't see or know if they have evidence of the vests being tied to one another.

Right but I'm wondering if a clean cut is any indicator of any type.

Right and I have no idea if htey were clipped back to itself or not and YES they could have falled one of these guys said out of the fiberglass "box"/"case" whatever they were on and the case/box got damaged perhaps. BUT they were from Seacor Power and they weren't real faded ... whether they were used by the men or not who knows.

Adn the crap that they say they are finding is ridiculous ... but yet JBE is worried about freaking sea turtles and not allowing some modification to shrimp boats that could then trawl the waters. I mean I like turtles BUT I'm sure these families would like to have their loved ones brought home.

Why would a human abandon a bright orange life vest? That would not make sense to me.

No but I htink that some are assuming that they made it "maybe" to the marsh/some area of land and "left them" as a sign? I truly don't know and am hoping for a miracle.

what are you talking about? Shrimpers trawl those waters all the time....it's not shrimping season right now. The season opens May 1st

I’m no JBE fan but every time disaster strikes people from Louisiana find some way to bring in JBE to blame. I remember after Laura people were spreading fake rumors that JBE was stopping Texans at the border from coming into Lake Charles to help.

All I know is that there's "something" that needs to be done regarding sea turtles and shrimp boats so that they can "legally" go into the water and trawl.

Whoever regulates that needs to consider allowing what needs to be done to be done. There's something holding them up and it's some level of government ... 08 said federal and I have no reason to not believe that. But I mean wouldn't you wnat your family member possibly found over the concern for sea turtles?
