Hey buddy remeber that $100 I lent you in 2012, well since we are no longer cool, I want that money back. Since Bitcoin was $13.50, but now it's $21,000 I want the value of the 7.4 bitcoins or $155,000.

Thanks"

Yea, I didn't understand that part. This was a donation, after all. I hate this is happening to them, but I wonder if they'd have any legal recourse on this. Most certainly they wouldn't get an inflation adjusted number, even if they did.

I think he is really making a point about the complete utter hypocrisy and bullshite in all this revisionist history in all that. Probably 70% of the old money American families can be tied to money from slavery if you really looked, black families included.

There were slavers, ship owners, bankers, financiers, store owners, lumber producers etc etc etc

I guess you realized how stupid your analogy of potentially having the gall for someone to want “lent” money back

Is there any chance he wins the case?

Probably zero.

The city of Richmond tore down a bunch of statutes on Monument Ave but they left the one of Robert E Lee standing because the family had donated a large parcel of the land to the city with a contract and restrictive covenant that said if the statute was removed the land would revert to the family. The statute was also on Federal and State National Landmark registries which provided further protection. And there was binding legal decisions backing all of this up.

The Supreme Court of Virginia still ordered the statute removed and told the family to go pound sand. They wouldn't even let them have the statute. Instead it was to be transfered to some bs organization that everyone knew would eventually melt it down.

The court opinion literally said something to the effect of "sometimes it's better to ignore the law to get what you want." Crazy.

I hope and pray that future, more conservative installments of the VA S. Ct. just bend liberal arguments over and cite to this opinion which states "if we hate the applicable law, we can just ignore it and tell you we are screwing you because we can".

But we all know only one side does that crap while the other has ethics and decency.

Look at the 109 year old statue and ignore the 28 murders this week

Then on top of that even if you didn't have slaves you were tied to slavery.

Slavery still exists right now. Old school style in Africa but also worker slaves in China building our iPhones

Yesterday while at the CircleK I told the clerk that she was a “ slave” to her phone. She’s black.

The blue and green haired fat girl behind me went nuts. The day before, the black clerk that is a nice person had some long white and black hair extensions up in a bun. I told that she looked like she fell in. some vanilla and chocolate swirl ice cream. Another fat girl and her skinny boyfriend went nuts. I give “ 0” fricks.

I'm unsure if you're bragging or complaining, but as an impartial bystander in such a situation, I'd merely think you're a big time a-hole who goes around saying whatever they want to people because you've not had your arse kicked yet.

What a load of crap. They have no willingness to accept Williams or his actions being a product of the times in which he lived.

quote:

“We recognize that some may be disappointed or disagree with this decision,” Hallock wrote in a letter to the university community sent when the decision to officially rename the law school was made in September. “We also recognize the role the Williams family has played here and respect the full and complete history of the institution.

I don’t think they really have a case for getting the money back unless it was explicitly conditional on the naming of the law school, but they are correct to point out the hypocrisy of the University.

they did this simply because he owned 3 domestic slaves.

Well, the article you linked said he also owned tobacco farms and his businesses owned a couple dozen more slaves. It also said the school hasn’t called the law school by the family name in over 20 years.

This honestly just reads as two sides trying to out virtue signal each other.
