That is exactly how USW handles this. They decide what proposals get brought up for a vote, and they dgaf if a majority disagrees

We had a union strike at my work (public employees) and the union ended the strike two weeks later, accepting less than they were originally offered.

Since us non unionized had to bear the brunt of the public rage, I laughed my arse off when they came back to work, for less.

The amount of big business brain washing is abundant. Congrats on being weak minded and "ok" with a huge, powerful company just rolling over the little guy.

The white collar Exxon workers have faced layoffs, pay cut, bonuses cut, and probably stock plan/401k hits, etc

How many of those “white collar office jobs” were BS positions???

How many “document auditors” or “material purchasers” do you need? Most of those white collar jobs are 4 jobs that 1 person can EASILY do.

And ALL of Exxon workers got their 401k match suspended. From craft field workers to big Whig management.

I have multiple stories about this giant union, having been a member for 14 years

I wonder if they still get $50 for walking a picket line all day?

You mean the same Amazon workers who voted against becoming part of a union in Alabama. Sounds like they have spoken loud and clear.

1) Get better educated
2) Improve your personal worth

You will not have an issue with companies "rolling over you."

Since you are not capable of improving yourself, you are fricked

Oh I gave an example of a union being needed because workers were being taken advantage guess that means your technicality disproves everything I said

This is some damn fine corporate boot licking. Yes there are a number of corrupt unions but that doesn't take away from what good unions have brought us in the past

Congrats on absolutely having your livelihood mapped out by a political organization. 90% of the reasons unions were needed for in the past are now covered by federal regulations.

But go ahead and feel good about a useless coworker making as much as you, or spending 35 years in a place and watch some kid come off the street and make your level of pay within a couple of years.

Oh, but it’s awesome because you can file a grievance for every little bullshite whiny baby thing you don’t feel like doing.

I can see your point, I really can but it takes all kinds.

As you can probably tell, I started out a long time ago an hourly worker who paid dues. Went back to school to better myself and eventually took a corporate management job with the same company.
I've had some good experiences with unions so I do have a soft spot for them.
I believe it's a check and balances type situation. You can't let either side pull too much. Ideally, they check each other. Of course this is in theory and corruption on either side is not ideal.
Instead of just bashing the workers and siding with huge companies like most on here, I decide to see the value in both and if the right people are voted in and/or hired, then the situation can be beneficial to both sides.

Ignorance

Tell me what part of what I posted was ignorant? And by white collar, I'm just referring to the executives. I'm also including the non hourly folks who work in the admin buildings at the refineries and the support people at headquarters.
Every major player has had some or all of that that I listed happen to their non union workers.
