I need to see these girls to make a decision.
If they looked like two stuffed sausage, kick em off. Fats shouldn't wear yoga pants

When the airline employees share these passes, they are to instruct the recipients that they must abide by a certain dress code. These girls, did not.
well then... case closed.
and, thanks for the explanation.

I'm tired of hearing about this. They were using an employee pass for a free trip. A condition of an employee pass is to follow the dress code. You dont like it, then buy your own ticket.
I live in a place that was 99% Hildabeast, and it was just a bitchfest on the radio this morning when this came up

No one should fly for free unless they themselves work for the airline

So did United fire the employee who gave the pass to these idiots?

Eh. I don't have an issue with this. It's just a perk offered. No different than a company extending gym memberships to the family, offering childcare, etc.
Most non-revs are only getting seats on a space available at the gate basis.

Accidental down vote. Apologies.

They'll likely remove or downgrade the benefit for them.

I believe both may be under 18...

I used to get free passes from my Aunt who works for American Airlines all the time... there was definitely a more strict dress code to use the passes.
Ditto, but for Southwest Airlines. There was a disclaimer that came with the passes that was in VERY BOLD TEXT that said something along the same lines. Here is a paraphrase. "
quote:
By using these passes you are temporarily becoming part of the Southwest Airlines organization for the duration of your flight and from that we expect you to adhere to the same moral and social obligations as our pilots, gate agents, ground crew, flight attendants....."
and dress code was near the top of that list and pretty much said you need to
quote:
avoid yoga pants, tank tops, general exercise clothing and flip flops.
That's obviously not verbatim but you get the point.

Nah i flew atl-btr last week and they were doing it for all coach/evonomy. I've been through it before so i knew what was up but if they want to make the poor gate agent deal with a long line of confused/stressed passengers who don't get it then thats on them.

They tell you about 100 times to check the monitor for your seat assignment and just board with your seat request card.
I don't mind it as an elite. Holds back seat assignments for me when I need to switch flights last minute.

Every time I've used a buddy pass I've been prewarned by the person letting me use it that I need to be dressed in business casual.
Exactly. The person(s) that should be catching flak on social media is the dumb arse employee(s) that gave these girls the passes and didn't inform them of the rules or the girls if they knew and chose to ignore the rules.

So I shouldn't be able to redeem all of those miles and status that I've earned?

No. The person who needs to be called out is the uninvolved third party bitch who overheard part of the conversation and rushed to put what she thinks happened on social media. Followed by all her friends who got "outraged and woke" then shared it. Once the ball gets rolling, no one actually cares that nothing happened. It is such a screwed up situation today.

Exactly
I got the impression that all of this was escalated by someone else, not the girls themselves.

Thanks for the clarification. Didn't realize it was a nosy third party that got this going.
ETA: Still, the employee(s) that gave the passes should have explained the rules of use.

I still advocate that people dress in at least business casual when boarding a plane. It shows the flight crew and the other fliers that you consider their service to be highly professional and special. Yes, I know this is a stodgy view that is probably 30 years out of date.
That being said....airlines have been narrowing their seat widths, decreasing amenities, and making flying more and more unpleasant for everyone. I can't blame people for dressing comfortably.

Sounds like my thoughts on a cruise ship dining room. Dress like you're going out to dinner.
One of the many reasons I won't go on a cruise.

I fly about 50,000-60,000 miles per year with DAL. I've only ever seen them reassign all seats if there was a last minute change in plane types. Maybe they do it more often and I just don't notice.
