Again, great question. He only carried cash and had no cell phone.

All pictures were brought forward by other parties then. How was he killed? Was there cash on him when they found him?

He wasn't killed, he died alone in his tent after mysteriously wasting away to 83 lbs. Fellow hikers found him a few days later.

$3,500 cash was found in his tent. He wasn’t robbed and there was no sign of a call for help or any struggle.

VERY plausible

Or his only family just died and he went into a depression. Or they’re alive and don’t care about him.

Any signs of drugs found in his system or tent?

I don’t understand why they couldn’t use dental record to identify him. He had perfectly aligned teeth so a dentist or orthodontist somewhere has his records.

Without a suspected Identity, HIPAA laws prevent law enforcement from searching through dental records willy nilly.

3500 is a significant amount of cash. One has to assume he either had a bank account somewhere or an employer at some point

He claimed to have worked in IT in New York before starting his hike.

Then he likely had a bank account in NY. They should check all NY banks for any accounts that have had no activity since around the time of his hike, or closed accounts around that time. Take the list of names and trace any names to anyone who worked at IT firms

If he had slaughtered everyone in his family before disappearing the authorities would know exactly who he is.

Ah yes, the monthly missing hiker thread

Probably eaten by a pit bull. Maybe we could combine the two threads next month!
