Interesting, hiking is a sub-culture I am very unfamiliar with.

My theory is that maybe he was an alien.

You mean "guess."

If you mean from another country, the current thinking, according to the podcast and based on interviews of people who talked with him extensively, was that he had a sort of generic American accent. The CCSO seems to think he is from the USA.

If he isn’t identified where did the photos come from?
The pics of him are from other hikers and people along the trail, like the lady that offered him a meal and a shower.

I don’t think any of the pics were found in his belongings.

Mostly Harmless has been identified based on a friend recognizing him. You can find his full name out there. RIP Vance

In combination with the other last names in that photo, could there be a connection to the Hispanic Families who settles in Baton Rouge before the French came in?

Looks like the family is from Cade near St. Martinville, his grandfather passed away this year. Shows his name in the obit. Also looks like a photo of him in the video on the funeral home website.
Looks like he worked It at a BBQ place in Baton Rouge.
They also have a listing for the same name at a corporation in New York. So those two items line up.
Looks like Reddit has removed some of the links until DNA is confirmed.

What a crazy ending. So he ended up being from Louisiana. One of the hikers said he mentioned Baton Rouge. That makes sense if he is from Denham Springs.

He's listed as their IT manager. That also goes along with him telling people that he worked in tech.

I just don't understand why not a single person was curious as to where he's been all this time. He was obviously on the outs with his family if they still thought he was alive even a few years after his death.

From what friends have told me:

- very reclusive

- huge nerd. Once took a year off work to play World of Warcraft lol

- wasn’t uncommon for him to randomly cut social and family ties

- didn’t like extended interaction, was an introvert who enjoyed his alone time

- moved to NYC in recent years for a change but was still unhappy with life

- liked System of a Down

With that post in not sure we'll ever hear the whole story. But I definitely would like to hear more.

maybe since they mention that he wasn’t logging his trail name but calling himself “denim” and has ties to BR— he was actually calling himself “Denham” ...

What bbq place?

I’ve looked at these threads that have been on here for what the last year? Read a few of the links and have just always thought to myself “I’ve seen that guy”. But then I just tried to think who I knew that he might just look like. Strange.

Any links to any info?

If you google the name Vance Rodriguez and Denham Springs, a business report link comes up that lists him as an IT manager. I'll see if I can find it.

Says "BBQ Guys"
