Had valve repair surgery in August. Are they going in from the ribcage or chest? Ribcage is so much better recovery-wise. Ask about the different options.
They'll have you up walking a day or 2 after. Exercise is the best medicine. Oxy is pretty good too. Stay mentally strong. This is just like anything else. It might suck and might seem unfair, but this too will pass. I've moved on to cardiac rehab. I feel like I'm better now than I was pre-surgery.
Drain tubes suck, literally and figuratively.

I would recommend visiting Dr Clifton Lewis at UAB if you can.

Unless you’ve been a smoker your whole life
Seems like once you have bypass surgery, if you’re older than 60 and you’ve been a smoker your whole life, you never get off the oxygen bottle after that
Seen it too many times

I am going to Dr Papoy. He impressed me with his knowledge.

Two drugs I take are Plavix and Losartan HCTZ although I stopped the Plavix for a couple weeks now and stopping Losartan a few days before.

I have never smoked. That is why I am the only one left in my family. They all smoked.

Too bad. Once the doctors get their hooks into you it’s over. They’ll use you like a pin cushion and it will be one procedure after another. You’re just a new beach house to them now. If you let them do it you’ll be dead within 2-4 years I promise you. And your quality of life will be shite. If you don’t let them do it, you’ll still die but your quality of life will be better. Remember this. I tried to tell you. Doctors don’t cure anything. They’re trial and error body mechanics that only treat symptoms. They love a yes patient that never question them. Most people are “whatever you say doc” and it’s sad. He wants to cut you open and do major surgery and it’s “whatever you say doc!” Doctors aren’t infallible so you should question everything! And you should have taken better care of yourself. (Unless you’re 85, then my apologies) Was stuffing yourself full of jambalaya at the tailgate worth it now? This didn’t “just happen to you” and you’re not unlucky or have bad genes. You didn’t take care of yourself.
WTF is this shite?!! I’m hoping this is a very poor attempt at sarcasm.
