So you're one of the "scripted" crowd, huh?

No way you'd script it like this. And Vegas....

If it was scripted Vegas would never touch it or be able to touch it. Unless they got the script, but even then it would eventually leak.

As it stands now you can't pull for anybody. Meaning, you'll be disappointed. Everybody loses. Been that way since Lidell lost.

It got away from what made it great. There used to not be weight classes and different styles of fighting were represented. They would search out the best of the best from different arts to represent in the ring. It was a no padded fight that barely had any rules.

Now its just a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu match run by the white Don King (Dana White).

So it went from a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ad, to a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu match? The entire purpose of the UFC was to promote BJJ as the best fighting style. The Gracie's started the UFC. So it's only natural that it has progressed to what you see now.

Btw, this argument is funny considering last night's main event was basically a boxing match that didn't go to the ground until Lawler was KO'd.

JJ educating folks. It was always a Gracie bjj marketing device. At the time, they were accused of only allowing fighters they "knew" they could beat. Probably much more truth ti that than the silly fixing myth proposed here. A dive or two here, sure, not possible to stop. Scripted? No, we aren't Japanese.

And thats why UFC is boring for those of us who don't care for BJJ and want to actually see a real fighting championship. In the early days of UFC, thats what we thought we were getting.

The rules are in place so the fights will be sanctioned in more states.

The way you want it ... the UFC was outlawed everywhere but Nevada.

But yeah, its boring now. Way way way too many events. One PPV every 2 months with a massive one around new years or Christmas would be the way to go.

One of your issues is that the UFC implemented weight classes? You can still watch the big guys fight in the heavyweight division if that's what gets your juices flowing.

And the whole "karate master vs jiu jitsu master" was never going to work long term. And if we're being honest, those were shitty fights. Go back and watch them.

The sport has evolved to where you can't dominate with any one martial art. You have to be well rounded.

We're witnessing the evolution of hand to hand combat. Figuring out what works in actual combat and what doesn't. That's exciting to me.

Ok.

That's what you're getting.

ETA: Please don't tell me you think the early UFC days was the embodiment of a "real fighting championship."

Thats the problem.. The weight classes takes away the true champion. Like I said in my first post, a 140 lb. fighter taking on a 400 lb. wrestler was the draw to the sport.

The number of events is becoming comical. It is literally weekly now. Between numbered UFC events and UFC fight nights.

And now the competition is watered down. If you string 4 title defenses together you are a HOFer.

The UFC was going bankrupt with that model. Sideshow fights are entertaining her and there but that can't be your business model.

Are we?

In actual combat, do they stop a fight because one person might out weigh another by 30 lbs.??

Do you think in today's UFC, they would ever let someone who is a master at a certain style come to fight?

That was the whole argument with the Mayweather issue.

By having weight classes, you're saying that because one guy who weighs 40 lbs. more than another is a superior fighter.
One of the best defensive tactics instructors I have ever met is only 5'5 and weights 130 but I ensure you he has taken down guys twice his size.

Wrestling? Yes. Kickboxing? Yes. Muay thai? Yes. Jiu jitsu? Yes. Sambo? Yes. Karate? Yes.

Boxers don't want to come over to MMA. They make much more money in boxing.

Exactly, its all about the money now which is why they have the white Don King (Dana White).

No it didn't. Your business model can't be sideshow fights.

When skills are similar, weight is everything.

Ok? How do you think he would fare if you put him in the cage with an MMA fighter that has 30lbs on him? He would get his shite pushed in.

ETA: I'm starting to think this is a troll. If so, you got me.

Also, how hard must it be to cross over. And then cross back over? Like Holly Holm.

To leave MMA and box or kick box? How hard is it to be an MMA fighter and not throw a leg kick in a boxing match? Or not shoot somebody in kick boxing or hip toss in a boxing clinch?

It has to happen. "My bad on the leg kick...." Touch gloves. While the other boxer rubs his/her knee.

But he would not be able to against trained professional fighters.

Taking down normal joe blows is much different than professional fighters.

Not throwing a leg kick or what not is not the problem.

Its changing the muscle memory of your fighting stance and footwork that is the problem.

MMA stances and footwork defend the lower body as well as defend against takedowns.

Boxing stances and footwork gets you in range for your punches since you can't rely on kicks and "shoots" to get you "inside".
