They should make that more well known. Damn. I think I gave a driver a four star rating once because he kept telling stupid stories when I was trying to check emails on the way in to work one morning. Didn't realize its actually a "bad" rating.

5 is passing and 4 is failing. fricking stupid. You can't rate them any higher for being really good, but you can rate them much lower for being bad

You are right, 4 stars is a bad grade. That's one reason I quite driving.

Drivers would agree with you.

I have a 4.0 rider rating. Pretty good considering I'm drunk for over half the rides. I made one guy bring me to Brothers. I also usually have an open container too.

I also had a driver a couple of weeks ago who took a left and was riding on the Streetcar tracks. That was a fun ride.

dont know where you heard this. If I hand an uber driver a 10 dollar bill, how would anyone at the uber headquarters be able to enforce that they cant accept it?

It may not be too enforceable, but they're supposed to decline tips.

They could offer the best drivers a higher percentage for being exceptional, and just keep the others at 80%. I'm not sure it's that sustainable if the pay is what I've heard. Keep both the drivers and riders happy, and everyone makes more money. Not that hard of a concept

I haven't used Uber, but Lyft uses a similar 1-5 rating system.

But if you give less than a 5, it asks you which areas need improvement: Friendliness, Safety, Navigation, Cleanliness.

That helps direct the feedback to the right issue.

I've been lucky I've only had 1 bad driving and that was leaving the River Center and headed back to the Hotel at the Belle. We only took Uber because it was raining and didn't want to walk back in the rain. Dude had no idea where the hotel to the casino was and rode around the block twice before I finally just told him to stop and we would walk the block. I gave him a 3 but he should have had a 1.

Yea that's how it works I guess, pointless to have the system of 5 stars. It should be ride was ok or there was a problem and you explain it. Of course the shitheads at corporate are too busy circle jerking to read shite like that.

If they drop under a 4.5 they lose their job

I've heard about that, too. Supposedly, if you drop below a 5 average long enough, they get rid of you

You must not be so good at math.

Well you do know that what level of Uber you request decides what kind of car you'll typically get.

UberX: The least expensive Uber service. Seats 4 riders. Drivers use sedans like Toyota Prius, Honda Accord. Known as UberPop in Europe.

UberXL: Seats at least 6 passengers. An UberXL car will be an SUV or a Minivan. Higher fare price than UberX

UberSelect: A luxury sedan that seats up to 4 riders. Expect a BMW, Mercededs, Audi, etc with a leather interior. Formerly known at UberPlus in some markets.

UberPOOL: Share your ride with another person and split the cost. Only available in LA, SF, NYC, and Paris. Read more about POOL.

UberBLACK (Black Car): Uber’s ‘executive’ luxury service. Commercially registered and insured livery vehicles, typically a black SUV or luxury sedan. Highest fare price

I accidentally took an UberBlack from Dallas to Allen this weekend. Costed me $107 haha.

Does anyone know a place where the riders can view their ratings?

ETA: you can check on their website. I have a 4.9. Can't believe that. I typically always demand the AUX chord then jam rap.

Before the rate cuts, there used to be better quality in even the UberX vehicles.

I used Uber this year on Valentine's for my gf and me and we selected just UberX because we were going 3-4 miles and we got a freaking Bentley in uptown Dallas.

I feel like it's more random than anything else.

I've done Uber/Lyft quite a bit in a good number of cities, and it takes a lot for me to not give 5 stars. I've only given a non 5 star once, and I gave that guy a 1 star. I'd have given him negative stars if I could just to ensure he never drove passengers again. If you get me home safely without making me sick or fear for my life, youre getting 5 stars. He was a guy in New Orleans who was worse than any cab I've ever taken. Dude was driving 70 down Claiborne, weaving in and out, and straight up ran two reds. He was basically your standard New Orleans driver, only he was driving me. I don't play that.
