I had to get a ride from downtown San Antonio to the airport. I'd taken an Uber ride from the airport to downtown and it was only $14.50, tip included. On the ride back to the airport, there was a 35 minute delay on the highway from an accident. Had that been a cab, my overall charge would have been around $45-$50 plus tip. With Uber, it was only $16.80, tip included (but I added another $5).

Lyft definitely offers better promotions. Last month I got a credit for $5 off up to 10 riders over 30 days. I used all of the rides including several easy trips where I normally would have driven but the fare was so cheap with the discount.

When I travel I think Uber is slightly more dependable, but in NO I see no real difference between the 2. However, if we could just get UberPool here now I might not ever drive downtown again.

And get both and evaluate which one is cheaper at the time you need a ride. Uber has more cars so I'd usually go there first.

This. I use both and choose depending on price and availability or promotion.

A couple weeks ago, Lyfy was offering 50% rides for the weekend. I used them. This weekend, I got a popup from Uber saying 50% off rides, so I plan to use that.

Never used Lyft but have never had a remotely bad experience with Uber in many different cities, from Baton Rouge to NYC, Miami, DC, etc.

He's had an anti-Uber schtick going for years now. I respect his dedication, TBH
