I definitely didn't say that.
so what is your position on someone being at fault who is killed by a robot for not following the rules?

Eta you equated the cyclist not using a crosswalk to someone walking on train tracks.

I'm not sure what it is to be honest. I don't have all the information to form an educated opinion. Learning as I go.

She wasn't a cyclist... she was walking her bike... and then stepped out in front of an SUV.

Well, she wasn't a cyclist at the time of the accident... presumably she was at some point in her life. Or walking the bike would have probably been theft.

but your first response to was to say we should expect someone walking on train tracks to be killed by a train and i was pointing out that urban areas are a messy place and probably not the best place for new technology that is still in its infancy and can't make decisions very well.

i'm trying to picture a robot car flying down that hill from fin and pearl to sambucca on an average friday night in nashville without incident.

I merely posed the question.

I agree it’s in infancy stages and a lot of work by smarter people than I needs to be done to make it safe.

have you ever driven down 12th into the gulch particularly on a Friday afternoon?

Pretty sure people walking out in front of you..valets darting out in front of you at full speed racing to get a car..pre teen girls taking selfies in front of buildings standing in the road.. drunk bacherloettes stumbling out of pedal taverns..is the norm.

You want to send a robot car into that chassis
YOU want to send a human driver who you admit are prone to texting while driving.

Talking yourself in circles...

I'd just like to point out...again..the moving goalposts and made up examples as CAD tries harder and harder to avoid the facts of the OP since what he thought happened did not happen.

uh, i do this every single afternoon and so far i've done pretty well.

are you this dense? i was talking about a human who isn't in charge of the vehicle but let their guard down since the robot took over.

there's no arguing with you. you just want to be right and you keep twisting what i'm saying to make your flawed case.

caterpillar serious question.

would you *EVER* trust a robot-controlled vehicle to truly take in the world around them and be safer than an average driver on an average day?

i'm talking billions of things your brain processes..a kids bike laying on the ground..a frisbee in the air you catch out of the corner of your eye..the sound of a dog barking getting closer..the list goes on and on and on..

you know where i live..half the time when i'm coming home at dusk there are deer which COMPLETELY blend into the surroundings. they are COMPLETELY STILL. yet i slow way down because 1 out of 10 times one will dart across the road at the last minute.

what was the clue for the robot car? certainly not the deer blending in with the trees & the shadows..the clue was as a human i know people hit deer all the time on this road and i'm being PROACTIVE not REACTIVE.

i'm sorry i'm bursting shells little bubble but no robot car can ever take in all of these context clues and be truly alert to a situation which isn't strictly in their line-of-sight and can result in a tragic end.

its impossible, the end.

Well there you have it, because you do it, everyone else can and no one is EVER killed by a distracted driver.

Also, good luck seeing that pedestrian out of the corner of your eye while texting, I'm sure you'll have a better chance to stop in time than the robot car.

You literally won't talk about the OP other than to troll, and you continue to make up random examples that are not similar to the OP. That's kinda the definition of moving the goalposts, chief.

Of course, these cars will be wayyyyyyyyyyy safer than humans at some point, that's not even up for debate. that IS going to happen, you'll just be left behind imagining we're not safer when every single fact or study will say otherwise.

Pssstt, no human driver can take all of those in either, especially you as you text and drive.

its impossible, the end.

We'll be overall safer, the end.

The average driver on an average day is terrifying. Playing on their cell phone, doing their makeup, fiddling with the radio, yelling at the kids in the back seat, checking out the girl jogging by, on "autopilot" just generally not paying attention, etc.

I would most certainly trust a robot-controlled vehicle over the average driver on an average day.

you're so wrapped up in defending **ALPHA** software in its infancy placed into the general population of vehicles that you can't see how wrong you are.

there's no arguing with you, you simply say "texts!" "imperfect humans!" so i give up.

Now imagine that technology 50 years from now. It's a no brainer, they'll be probably be 1 million times safer than human drivers years down the road.

You respond to my post about you ignoring the OP by...ignoring the OP.
