Probably- the updated statement made it sound like any non-ermergency passenger car/truck would be stopped coming across the border.

But uh...that would be ridiculous

Welp, this screws my son out of going back to work. He was to start a turnaround in Pasadena on April 6. I mean, I can understand the move, but still hits. Unemployment is the option now.

Wouldn’t a turn around be classified as critical structure?

I would think so. He’s in contact with the company now. I guess the Texas government could require them to hire from within the state.

How would they know someone is coming from Louisiana to Texas? My guess would be Louisiana license plates is a quick way to decide who gets pulled over.

But unless the volume of traffic is way less than I am expecting, this is an impossible task to do unless they only stop one of every X number of drivers.

Very curious to see what happens from firsthand anecdotes in this thread. Please keep us updated.

It doesn't apply to commercial activity. I would think starting a new job qualifies as commercial activity.

It's a big story but is being generally ignored here.

Maybe because it is only being applied to leisure travel.

From Your link:

quote:

Abbott said travel to and from Louisiana will be restricted to those handling essential services. He said this applies to travel by road from any location in the state of Louisiana and will be enforced by the Texas Department of Public Safety at entry points into the state and those coming from Louisiana will have to self-quarantine for 14 days. The order does not apply to travel related to commercial activity, military service, emergency response, health response, or critical infrastructure functions. The order goes into effect at noon on Mar. 30. He also said people flying from Miami, Atlanta, Detroit and Chicago, California and Washington state into Texas must be self-quarantined.

Traffic is going to be a mess.

If you’ve ever been through a border patrol check point I expect it to be very similar. Every car will be stopped. Obvious commercial vehicles will be waved through

I’ve only been through one of those in my life, and most vehicles (including mine) were not stopped. That was in San Diego around 2014.

I interpreted that as transport of goods. You could be right.

knee-jerk?

Honestly if it wasn't for imbeciles continuing to have church services, Second line parties, mobbing the lakefront, and otherwise completely ignoring any kind of social distancing then this wouldn't even be considered.
