I agree that it provides a platform for the stupid and crazy to display themselves. But to act like there isn't any value in the medium is just dumb.
But I'll play your game and answer your question...I found a credit card in the Alex Box parking lot after a game this year. Looked up the name on facebook, saw I had a mutual friend with the cardholder, texted our mutual friend who sent me the cardholder's number. Called the cardholder and she had her card back within 10 minutes of losing it...at this point she hadn't even realized it was gone.

Fits the mold for two groups on the fringe doesn't it!

I'm okay with that.

That's a random event. And I agree, there is value and my question was largely tongue in cheek, it just seems the masses use it for all the wrong reasons.

Let the conspiracy theories begin...a guy at work is trying to convince me the hand in the go pro video is a white guys hand.

Geez. There just always has to be those types. I know a guy that believes without a doubt that Sandy Hook was completely staged.

As someone in the business, never in a million years would I think something like this happened.
This is unfathomable
When I first heard the news I immediately thought someone might have happened to shoot a robery or chase or something and got by accident.
Really sad day for not only America, but for the reporters/media members across the country

Just watched the video on Liveleak...wow, that was sick. It was a cell phone. It had to be. I'm guessing when the shots were fired, the cameraman jumped and knocked the phone out his hand.
Did anyone else hear him say "bitch" when he pulled the gun the first time? He waited until the camera was on her to shoot her.
I'm still puzzled how her peripheral vision was that bad to not see the gun pulled on here the first time. I guess when I reporter is locked on an interview, they really focus.

I've been in meetings all day-so the perp died? Has Obummer chastised this obvious hate crime? Sent Holder to investigate? Are there mobs burning local businesses, looting and rioting? I'm assuming that is all happening since it seems that is how folks are supposed to react to these sorts of events.

A guy shoots 3 people then kills himself over a woman calling him a monkey 2 years ago. Makes sense..... Was it really worth over a racial slur? Now be in hell? People are soooooo dumb.

Yup, that was very cold blooded.

The have to be. Could you imagine how terrible it would look on TV if a reporter on scene turned and looked at every movement that happens around them. They're trained to not do that.

Geez, man. That topic has been discussed at length in this thread.

Doubtful someone really called any of those names.

Not to anyone in particular but CNN said LE was put on his trail by a license plate reader on the interstate. What the hell is that?

That's what I thought. Seemed like the guy was within a few feet...unless he had the camera zoomed in a bunch

We really just got into a heated "discussion" about it. Unfrickingbelievable.

USA Network has announced they are delaying the season finale of Mr. Robot, which was set to air tonight. The finale will instead air a week from today, on Wednesday, September 2nd. USA explained that the shocking on-air murder of journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward in Virginia this morning was behind the decision.
Said the network, in a statement, "The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time."
CONSPIRACY! This is no coincidence!

I mused some 40-50 pages ago, I wonder if the guy let them know he was there before the live footage began, either by confronting them or letting them know he was there somehow, but they kept going since they were going live. I did see the video from the station (not the first hand video) and after knowing what I knew, it almost seemed like she looked nervous.
I know what has been said numerous times by those in the business, but I agree it would be hard not to know someone was there with you on a deserted shoot.
