Terrible news. I've been out there only once, but I remember there being a lot of trees and stuff under water to get caught up in.

I went one time and got hooked on a trot line. Went completely through right behind my arm pit. If I wouldn't have been able to stand, I would have been in big trouble because of the current. Doesn't take much.

...owners weren't very concerned. Gave me a free voucher fort next visit and a plate of jambalaya.

They knew they were there. They said other people on the river put them out because they were pissed because they didn't have "tiki tubing"

Terrible news. My thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims.

Damn. Yall make me not wanna go Tiki Tubing anymore. I went last week and the river was damn high. Current was hauling arse. I thought it'd be down by now.

I've never been, but shite like this seems to happen there once a year or so. Really surprised the parish hasn't stepped in and done something, regardless if Tiki Tubing doesn't own the river or not.

The rain today can cause a huge fluctuation on that river.

Went last week.
I tell you what, I've done some serious class kayaking and even some of the upper class 3 and lower class 4 rapid rivers weren't moving as fast as the Amite last week.

The recent rain made that thing roll. The water was definitely over my head at more parts than not.
I'm 6' fwiw.

Will wait to see what happened but maybe it is alcohol related. If so should LP ban alcohol on rivers?

Same here. They say it's suppose to be 4 hours. We must have finished around 2 hours and we stopped twice. We could barely stop when we wanted to. Couldn't touch and couldn't swim against the current to reach the sand bars.

If they ban alcohol, Tiki Tubing will be forced to shut its doors. I don't remember the exact details of the last few incidents, but I want to say just about every incident in recent memory was alcohol related.

Went yesterday. Water was up a little but nothing ridiculous. I never felt uncomfortable

I honestly like a little more current because it makes the trip move along.
We finished in exactly 4 hrs
