That is not the reason for getting or not getting a flag of convenience

Ok. Now answer this question...

Are the Marshal Islands and Panama going to respond?

I don't even want ground troops. Just a sustained air/missile attack that will wreck their economy and capacity to assert themselves beyond their borders.
Are you willing to accept the consequences of that whatever they may be?
When you start dropping bombs and shooting missiles into another country you damn well better have already accepted the fact they might do the same to you, they may or may not be able to but you need to accept the possibility and be able to live with it.

Don't these companies register these ships in countries like Panama strictly for tax purposes or some other reason?
Posted on 6/13/19 at 9:47 am to upgrayedd
Cheaper to register the ship. Hell, some you can register online. Inspections aren't nearly as complicated as US registration. No income taxes with some flags, cheaper labor, etc.
Those countries are just ink on paper
Those countries are just ink on paper

mean, I know that it’s not realistic, but what the frick would anybody do if we did that? We should tell Russia and any other foreign entity that’s not Muslim to gtfo and I would say bomb those assholes
So you’re calling for wiping out all Muslims? That’s hitler shite right there.

Over the last 50 years we've been in conflict with countries/actors that can't fight back in any meaningful way that would disrupt our economy or way of life. For all our fear of Al Quaeda, the WTC turned out to be their one best shot and they could never repeat it. Iran is a different barrel of fish. They are not on our par, but if the regime's existence was under threat, they could make things very interesting, both in their region and in ours.

I'm not arguing with you about it. Just pointing out how other do nonsense, yet somehow it's always my fault.
I'm well aware of the reputation. Doesn't mean that any nonsense in a thread is my fault.

Like pretty much every cruise ship.

New reports now stating the two ships are both floating and they likely struck Iranian Limpet naval mines
That's an odd turn of phrase. Limpet mines are placed on hulls not hit. I wouldn't expect a journalist to make the distinction but someone displaying Dolphins???

Probably, but the sharp increase of US oil production and a lifting of the US export ban was a bit of a game changer
