So because someone acted like an arse in front of your kids and yelled at you, you’d do something that is even worse by physically assaulting them in front of your kids and probably get arrested in front of them too?

Amazing people can’t see the irony in that, but not really surprising with how dumb people are these days

Are you insane

I’m not the one talking about physically assaulting someone because they yelled at you in front of your kids (after you almost throw him out the boat). But carry on

Fun fact…mutiny is still covered under maritime law and punishable by up to 10 years in jail. I’d venture to say throwing capt off his own boat because he yelled mean words at you could fall under mutiny, along with assault.

Maybe it's just me, but I would feel like a pussy pulling my camera out to record and then an even bigger pussy to post it online

Obviously, I'm exaggerating. But he seriously looked like he was going to attack the guy. Throwing shite around, complete loss of control. People like him are dangerous, and being out to sea? That's just a recipe for disaster for a rage-a-holic.

Nah there's something to this.

Honestly if I fricked up and it was just some buddies with me I'd take the arse chewing and move on.

With my son there and you have to show me more respect than that.

But to record it snd then put it on the internet? I wouldn't want a soul to know about that shite

I get that. Dude went overboard (lol get it?) and could have held himself together better, but it just makes me lol when ppl say “I would beat his arse for acting like that in front of my kids”.

Like your mad at them for doing something bad in front of kids, so you do something worse in front of them.

It's one of those cases where you let them vent then deal with it later. Onshore.

Never turn off the engine while offshore. shite happens

My dad, a poor, not very successful farmer, had the same philosophy, once you get a piece of equipment running, you don't turn it off until the job is done for the day and it is parked where it's going to stay the night.

Pro tip, self taught after having a similar incident - when done driving put the shift in fast-idle mode so that someone falling on the lever just revs the engine up without shifting it. Leave the engine running all day without worrying about somebody falling on the lever and killing someone, crashing into the rig and killing everybody, or any other manner of death and dismemberment.

I know nothing about boats like that, but if that's a thing, he's 100% at fault.

Yes the throttles can be put into fast idle…it’s there to allow you to rev the engine without engaging the prop…often used to get cold motors runnnig while on the trailer or at the dock.

But modern motors are not like shite from the 60’s so the whole “don’t turn the motors off” thing is not really practiced anymore on open deck boats.

Some charter captains are complete douchebags who forget the trip is not about them, but trying to make sure the customer has a good experience. That said, there HAD to have been more than just the guy accidentally hitting the throttle to set him off like that.

It’s one thing to be pissed because some a-hole customer didn’t listen to you, which could have resulted in serious injury. It’s another for a guy to completely lose his mind and say he was going back to shore. Sounds like a “straw that broke the camel’s back” situation than an overreaction to an accident

Lol yes it is. Atleast down here it is and that’s a charter fleet of 100s of boats, not even counting rec boats. I’m sure some people do turn them off but the vast majority do not on offshore center consoles.

Always confuses me when people say shite like this. So because a guy hurt your feelings and said bad words in front of your kids (after you almost kill him), you think a proper response is to physically assault him (also in front of your kids) because they sets an even better example for them

That guy is not charter captain material. He may be a great fisherman with a nice boat, but that doesn't qualify you to be a good charter captain. frick him, I hope he loses his business. What a fricking shite head.
