Yea, I was wondering the same thing. I find it hard to believe he didn't have one?

Eh, this guy had done five tours. I don't think it's inappropriate at all to throw out those terms.

Is the name of the air show "Chicago Airshow Collide?"

What is the point of that anyway? It seems so fricking dumb to me. I get precision flying, but precision parachute jumping? You weigh like 190 pounds a gust of wind could (and clearly did) frick things up. It's not even a tangible "skill" that would be useful in war, anyhow.

Geez the first two replies are a guy claiming to know one and a guy claiming to be one.
I knew one in the loosest sense of the word. He was my BC at Benning during basic..

Yes, out of Pope. Best gig I had on active duty. Was a ton of fun doing airshows every weekend.

W. They couldn't pay me enough to deal with all the crap as an O.

Figured that gig would go to a W. Only O is probably (maybe) the DET CDR.
Did many a CASA 212 JM duty on St Mere with two retired Ws USASOC hired to fly out of Simmons. Always seemed like they had a sweet gig. 'Six minutes" on the ground, lift off, loop around, exit jumpers, recover static lines and D bags, land, repeat.

Lol, sounds a lot like my week days at Laurenberg.

There actually is a lot of value to precision HALO jumping for warfare. If you want to land right on top of a target after being dropped from 30,000 feet, then that's the way to do it.
Doing all the tricks and so forth is unnecessary, but there is a whole hell of a lot of value in being able to be on top of your target out of nowhere. You don't get that with static-line jumping or really any other kind of insertion procedure. There's a very good reason why the special ops from non-Army communities get HALO qualified and practice those insertions.

HALO jumping seems to me to be a lot more practical than low level static line jumping in today's world.
