Reading about this led me reading about how Twitter had multiple spies feeding accounts' private info to Sandi Arabia to help identify users which I don't even remember.

I assume that’s what the hackers were after.
It was a fishing trip, and the bit coin scam was a cover.
With all those accounts, you’re bound to find anything from indiscreet comments to photos people would prefer to keep private.
Perhaps it’s gang of criminals, looking for blackmail material. Perhaps it’s a state intelligence service.
