I'm not sure I agree with this statement. If someone said "You really hanging around these crackers?" about me and my family I wouldn't care about it at all. It really doesn't make sense at all that this one racial group gets so overly upset by even the possibility of a word being used, and the idea that everyone else is supposed to care too is just stupid. Given how every other racial group in the world reacts to such things, it's hard for me to agree with your premise that this should upset anyone at all. All they're doing is giving ignorant people power over them by simply using a word.

That said, it does upset people and there are real world consequences, so we unfortunately must discuss this ridiculous accusation. There is still no evidence a slur was said. We have two guys, one claiming this was said and the other saying it was not. Outside of that, we have an 85 year old business and, from what I can find, no one has ever made such an allegation against it before.

Obviously, that's not proof, but it is strong circumstantial evidence in favor of believing the random guy I don't know who runs that business instead of the random guy I don't know who is making claims he tried to support by dreaming up witnesses who apparently weren't even around when the word was supposedly used.

I don't believe any of the accuser's black companions heard this slur being used because none of them say they heard it and none call the business owner a liar when he says they didn't hear the conversation because they were inside, so that would lead me to believe the big guy is at least lying about the other people hearing it. If he's lying about that piece, then why should anyone believe any part of his story?

So how's the food?

that would definitely be said by the folks who are so privileged they can create a negative news blitz against a business with no evidence whatsoever.
